These lines might be barf city but maybe something like:

Wilson-Fisher-Honrqvist
Stalberg-Cullen-Legwand
Nystrom-Gaustad-Smith
Spaling-Hendricks-Clune

ex. Bourque, Beck

Weber-Jones
Josi-Klein
Ellis-Ekholm

Ahh, I see, thanks for that. I'm a big Preds fan, I'm from up north but I've got a lot of family down there and there's hardly anyone to talk Preds with up here obviously lol.

I don't know how I feel about the term on a lot of these deals this summer. I like Stalberg because of what he brings, but idk about 4 years for Nystrom and Hendricks. I think they might get crowded up front with kids like Forsberg and Watson looking for time during their development. I've got really high hopes for both of those two so I was disappointed with some of these signings. I think it might hurt the kids' chances of getting their time in the lineup.

Edit: I still want to see more of what Bourque can do! I hope he's not waived since we have a lot of forwards under contract now.

You have a lot of company on your comments as there are concerns on how much the UFA additions squeeze Preds' promising prospects. Their time is now or pretty close to it. Maybe we see a trade of some of the redundancy before too far into the season.

Definitely don't want to lose Borque!! He may still be on a 2-way but at any rate will be on the team when the season starts.

Edit: It appears that Borque is not on 2-way.

Agree. I'd much rather see the kids get a better opportunity than have some of these overpaid scrubs in the lineup, but I digress. I just hope they know what they're doing.

Also, there's no way Bourque isn't on the team next year. He was having a great season before he went on the very, very long injury list.

I don't see any way the Preds put Jones on a line with Weber. Not this year anyway. Until he proves he can handle the load I see him getting protected minutes on the third line.

Someone in another forum said they had a luncheon with Cogen, and Cogen stated that our first line would be Stahlberg/Cullen/Wilson, with a second line of Bourque/Fisher/Hornqvist. The third line was up for debate. The worst combo they came up with was Hendricks/Legwand/Nystrom. Of course, they also threw Beck/Legwand/Smith out there as well.

We have too many forwards, that's all there is too it.

Still scratching my head on the line combo's. DP let's Ward & Goc walk when they produced on so many situations but throw monopoly money out this summer to lesser talent.

Bourque needs to stay up, Beck needs a little more time. Agree on Jones.

The money situation is different now than it was then. Back then they were still dealing with the Boots situation and W. Brett Wilson had not yet come on board. Also, Fritsch got a windfall in his stock options just before last summer. It's very different now.

I heard someone mention Cully might be the 1st line center before too and I cringed. What's the deal with Wilson, do you guys think he has 1st line center potential? I know he's a natural C but they've been putting him on the wing because of how crowded it is between Fisher, Goose, and Cullen now. Also Smith, Spaling, and now Hendricks. So many centers, I dont know where to begin with these lines

Edit: can't forget good old Legwand too 8/12 of those forwards I threw on up there are centers

Smith won't be gone unless he sucks this season. Poile didn't invite him to Team USA Olympic Camp because he has no value. Not to mention the fact that the Preds saw enough in him to talk him out of returning to Wisconsin. Something this team NEVER does. No way Bartley is sitting on the bench in favor of either Ellis OR Ekholm.

One thing is sure though... the team is a clusterfuck right now, and for the first time I'm not sure exactly what they're trying to do. The offseason moves do nothing to make me think this team is ready to contend for a Stanley Cup, and I'm not sure I'm even confident they'll get back to the playoffs.

I can't see 'the plan' they have in mind with these signings, and to be honest, I'm not really excited for the season to start. This never happens to me.

I'm not as unexcited as you but I do have some doubts - big questions at the least.

Also, while I realize that many of the forwards are interchangeable position-wise, the depth chart still looks odd as others have noted. Counting Forsberg there are (8) centers (plus four more rookies). Left wing depth has (7) players including Borque, Beck & Watson plus a couple of more rookies.

And on the right side we have ... Hornqvist and (5) prospects.

I think a lot of our younger players are going to start the year with the Ads whether we like it or not.

I don't like it. I think the Preds are stifling their own growth. I wish I could make some sense out of this offseason. I can't. At least in years past, including our first years, you could see there was a plan, and and identity to this team.

What I don't get is Trotz coming out in the media and saying we have too many of the same kind of player on our team (his own version of FrankTrotz btw) then watching Poile go out and get more of the same.

I really hope there's something they see in these guys that we don't see. What I don't care to watch is a crappy Preds team that can't score, but wins the fight card every night. I couldn't care less about fighting. My fear is that they're catering to the WWE redneck demographics at the expense of the team. There's not a lot of 'grit' and 'sandpaper' when you get to the teams that actually win. Boston may be the exception, but their guys have skills too. They're don't exist just to punch someone in the face.

Do you guys think Wilson could be a 1st line center of the future? I haven't watched him enough to get that kind of gauge on him

Not as long as we have a gazillion centers on the roster like we do now. They like him at wing.
