- sanfordnson

As embarrassing a deal as it was, you could probably slot Ballard in there too.

Lappy and Higgins were decent deals as well.

- IanEsplen

I can't agree with that one...Grabner is a better player than Ballard...AND a 1st? which turned out to be Quinton Howden...Bernier was meh...but the other 2 hurt them...regardless of what Florida did with Grabner right afterwards...that was just a mistake by gillis compounded by a mistake in florida by their management...that trade created a clusterf*ck of stupidity...on both ends!

Oilers turned Gretzky into Jimmy Carson and Messier into Bernie Nicholls. No franchise in sports can match those.

You are the very first, and I mean the very first, non-Oilers fan that I have not had to point out the 15 million dollars involved in that trade out to. Well done sir. Well done.

Still gonna be a while too. Up for a pretty big opportunity after an extensive period of being a consultant and need to piss pristine. Going to be weird working for someone else again.

Tell me about it. Crews think youre sitting in your truck pulling it when youre on the phone with high level guys, occasionally boardroom level, about decisions that can cost millions. Wont deny, Im (frank)ing tired.

Nothing was enough. It was the beginning of the dismantling of an epic dynasty. Most of those guys said they think they could have won 3 or 4 more Cups had they stayed together.

for Gretzky in his prime? If I were running the Oilers right now and Gretzky was in his prime, you could not give me a $100 mill to trade him...he was that valuable...I didn't follow what happened to loyal oilers fans and their attendance through out that trade...before and after...but it couldnt have been that pretty

I only watched the Kings when I was a kid because of Gretzky...I can't stand him as a person (and yes I've met him in Whistler one year) but his on ice talents were just amazing...I was just getting into hockey when the Oilers were a dynasty, but I've watched their games from back then...he was a fun player to watch...no amount of money could make me trade him if i were the oilers management...he was literally worth everything to that franchise...
