not getting a draft pick... best best would be a 900k guy we can stick in the minors.

Say eat $1-$1.5M, and take a scrub with a 900k cap hit back to stick in Marlies.

Saves the trading team $2M or more.

thanks, thats something new i hadnt read. But is not clear that a Toronto Team would be much more than a Quebec or Seattle team. Sounds like speculation that the league could charge any team 500 million.

i saw the Arena costs in the 325+ million range, but nothing about the franchise fee itself

I am surprised it's been this hard to find, but I do remember MacKenzie discussing the potential for huge expansion fees in GTA or Hamilton... a lot from when Balsillie was trying to move Preds there.

I got sense Walsh was talking about a GTA or Quebec team specifically. That was the intent of the article.

Can't believe he'd suggest a US market team would cost that much, when only the Rangers are even worth that much now.
