Have you seen the buyout? It is a hamstring...after we finally get the Armstrong/Tucker buyouts off the books. 6 more years of it for JML? There's a trade to be made somewhere.
- Deeps27

Wait, I got it! Bozak and Liles for Matt Stajan!

Just for you HH!

I think that's how much it would cost Seattle. That's not how much a team costs...

Franchise fee in Markham would be much more.

- Big_Lightnin

can you show me where this is stated, I cant find it. All I can find is there is one franchise fee

thanks

What if he slides into #2 role hole when Kadri is (hopefully) ready for #1? I have long maintained the Leafs will contend for a Cup when Kessel is on the 2nd line and away from #1 shutdown units...over the course of 4 rounds that will keep him fresher and the Leafs more successful.

I am a Bozak fan - he would have been signed by now if he went to UFA...I firmly believe that and for the team Carlyle wants to deploy he is the right fit.

Grabo would absolutely have gotten more points than Bozak if they were swapped for the year.

this isn't even debatable.

Not gonna argue about the decision to buy him out, or why they never put him with Kessel, but he absolutely would have been effective in an offensive situation.

- Big_Lightnin

It is debatable. Kessel and Grabovski have no chemistry together. It is proven over the years they have been on the same team and seldom on the same line. That's not a fluke.

Sure Grabo would have been effective in an offensive situation; if you want to blame someone for him being moved to 3rd line at 5.5, blame Kadri. Grabo could put up 60 points at even strength and PP, but I'd rather have Bozak at 50-55 pts at even strength, PP and as a core PK player.

I can't point to common sense. You either have it or you don't.

A car costs 30,000 whether a Kia or Porsche. Never the mind articles, its true.

Frees up $3M per for the next 2 years, which solves the cap issues they have right now and adds more room for signing Kessel and whomever next year. 1 bad year at $2.3M, then $1.25M the last 3 years.

really not that bad. not great, but not that bad.

problem there is this has never happened, and there is evidence to suggest it is not possible consistently.

I hope I am wrong, Bozak to me is a poor mans version of a #1 center. is average at everything. Does nothing well. A low end fill in

I hear you - but once you cut off your nose to spite your face you'll never really be the same again.

1 yr deals with each Kadri and Franson - $3 for Franson, $1.9 for Kadri. Cap goes to $70 mil next year, reward them for taking one for the team with term. Done.

Youtube his first career goal again...someone capable of that in the NHL has more skill than a "low end fill in"...

the internet is filled with people who believe they have commons sense (see HH).

I ask for proof to back your claims, thats all.

So you are saying that the NHL will say a franchise fee for Seattle and Oklahoma is 275 million, for the GTA its 750 million.

just giving an example

having trouble finding it but I remember MAcKenzie and company toss around numbers like $400M for a Markham expansion team when the arena proposal was going on.

the $2M is from years ago... not even relevant.

extra $3M from buying out Liles this week would absolutely free up enough cap to sign Franson and Kadri...

or..

Trade Liles and Ashton for a 3rd/4th round pick to colorado

Sign Franson 4M per for 5-6 years

Sign Kadri for 3-3.5M for 2 years whatever keeps him at RFA

Drop holzer and smith to the minors(capgeek)

Then we have about 2.6M left. I would take the gamble on doug murray for like 1.5-2M for a year or two

Thus we have a 21 man roster, add another roster player(forward from marlies) and we are pretty much balanced within the cap

i saw the Arena costs in the 325+ million range, but nothing about the franchise fee itself
