i understand why they bought out grabo.. but honestly? i would of let bozak walk.. play grabo one more year and see if kadri becomes ready for full time 1st line work.

the simple truth is.. carlyle likes bozak over grabo.. he has his reasons.. but i do think letting grabo go for nothing will haunt the leafs.

would of been easy to move him next year if carlyle would of just slid him into a top 6 role to improve his trade value.

wonder who will be carlyle's whipping boy this year? thats the question i want answered.. he always seems to have one

With the Horcoff trade, its unbelievable that Grabo wasnt traded.

When Grabovski's time was limited the team won. Period. He is not a better player then Bozak for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Look outside the numbers.

It's not that simple and you know it. There were many different players on last years team as opposed to the years before, just like there will be several new players from the years before. There was nothing wrong with Grabo playing here, he wasn't the reason we lost in past years, if anything I would actually say Bozak not putting up the numbers he finally did last year was a bigger factor than Grabo getting more or less minutes. Grabo's a good player, he just couldn't continue to play here. And it was Wilson, not Carlyle who decided Grabo couldn't play with Kessel. Carlyle just saw no reason to change things up, that usually happens when a team doesn't get a preseason to try things out.

1: a new defensive structure
2: young players making an impact
3: new bottom pairing guys like mcclement shoring things up
4: a goaltending duo who played over their head
5: the lockout giving guys like kostka an advanatage in the early part of the year

no.. none of that matter.. the leafs made the playoffs because grabo was used less.

I think it was more a matter of timing and the need to get the compliance buyouts in. Grabo's going to find a new home and he'll do just fine. Am I sad he's no longer a Leaf? No, do I wish him well, yes. Am I happy Bozak's still a Leaf? yes. Do I want him centreing Phil? No.
