Can't we just bury Fraser in the minors?

Wouldn't he have to clear waivers to go back now? Pretty sure. No way that would happen.

Yeah, but don't tell him that.

Will be way more entertaining til Christmas time.

I see what you are saying but we can guess at some reasonable numbers for the 2 guys left. I also think Bog has proven more than Franson plus to keep someone in the Peg for that long you have to pay a premium. I used to live there,I know of what I speak.

Franson would sign a deal like shattenkirks for sure. IMO

I dunno. buying 2 years of UFA... I think they gotta go pretty close to $5M per.

2 years 3.75M per is probably the best they can hope for.

first of all, its big D

get it right.

second of all, i was talking hockey all day while you were flipping burgers.

now before you return to the burger king night shift, here is my 2 cents on a hockey comment for you...

use tape on your stick.

I think he was calling you a d-bag.

Which is both ironic and adorable.

yup could, for a 350k cap hit.

but he'd get claimed on waivers too. make more sense to bury Liles since odds are Fraser actually plays this year.

Isn't it great how we can all have our differences on here yet still all come together when talking about HH!!! LOL

Any guess at what the cap may be next year??

Anyone making predictions?

- Cooshie

back to $70M is my guess. those outdoor games print money, and there's 6 of them.

hmm... maybe that's high... Minimum $5M increase anyway.

Exactly my point we don't need Fraser and it clears the 1.2 mill

always an option right before the season starts if they need to cut salary.

could certainly trade him for a late pick though I would think

You would still have to fill in his spot with say Brennan. Only saves you 675. Plus I think Nonis actually wants him on the team.

JML is the path we must follow out .

So Phaneuf gets close or same what he's making and phil gets a 2 mill raise leaves us with good chunk of cap space. Who else to sign next year

nah I don't mind it. He's gonna be their #2 next year, if they gave him a bridge he'd go WAY high in 2 years.

look at Montreal - sure they got a nice deal on PK for 2 years, but now he's gonna cost $7M+ to resign next summer... bet they wish they'd gone like $4-5M for 5yrs like he was asking.

Wheeler's contract is the one that I'd be worried about if I was as Jets fan...

- Big_Lightnin

gotta disagree with you on this one BL. here's my reasoning...
say PK signed $25 million/5 years

1) cap coming down to $64 million for 2013-14. that'd be an additional $2.25 million on the books this year. would have made things a bit uncomfortable this offseason. gained some flexibility there.
2) you're right, PK will be looking at 8 years, $56 million IMO. agree, cap hit is $2 million higher. but remember: when this contract kicks in, PK's "hypothetical" deal would only have 3 years left and then? BOOM. he's UFA. does he stay or does he go? we do not know. so if you can lock him up for 8 years, you're guranteeing that he's a Hab for at least 10 years. whereas with the 5-year deal, you're kinda playing with fire. and then if you DO sign him after that 5-year deal, good chance you're paying even more than $7 million if the cap continues to rise.

anyway, point is not that it worked out perfectly with PK. the 3 seasons following next year, Habs will be paying $2 million more than the could have. but gotta think the last 5 years of the deal will make up for it.

Gonna be a tight squeeze next year again...!!!
Kessel will eat almost half that and depending on what happens with Reimer, that's another 1-2mill....then there is a raise to Kuli and Bolland....

Might be harder next year then this year!!!

Have to look at Reimer, Bolland and Kulemin.
Of Colborne has a decent year....
McClement will want raise for sure if he duplicates....

It's gonne be a tight tight squeeze.
