Do not engage, soldier. I repeat, do NOT engage. He's a mentally deficient nobody (or at least plays the role of one here) who only posts dramatic garbage to generate comments.

He's somewhere between Garth and Matthew Barry, but prefers to dump on other teams much more frequently.

I'm a little worried the NHL is becoming a league for boys. There are a lot of unsigned vets who are still in their early 30's that I feel have plenty to give. When a player is playing with a serious injury, it always turns out to be an experienced vet who wants to win more then anyone.

Would love to see what the average NHL player's age is nowadays. I wonder if that has fluctuated much in recent years.

I think with the salary cap going down this year a lot of teams are stuck. Guys like Morrow would have likely been signed already if it wasn't for the decrease.
- Marc D

I'm not sure where his head's at but I think Matthew Lombardi still has a place in the NHL. I know he has a history with concussions but when healthy he can play. David Steckel is another guy, I believe he's still believe he's the best active faceoff man to date. Gagne and Morrow are honorable mentions. All of which are still good enough to be in the NHL.

Part of the problem with the salary cap is the you've got the better players making big $$ and the younger players making less so that you can fit the budget. Then the middle-of-the-road vets don't have anywhere to go.

I wasn't trying to name eras.....I was just trying to name some of the things/people that Gagne has seen and played with.

At 33 years old, he's not necessarily an old man, but remember he started at 18 years old here.

What's sad is that we've had that many "eras" in that time short-a-time.

I dislike Cloutier nearly as much as I disliked Barry. And I really disliked Barry, nothing about his shtick was entertaining.

Maybe this makes me sound nuts but I truly believe the NHL should worry about the best of the best playing in their league and less about their price tags. I still go back and forth on whether or not the cap is a good idea. The cap was put in place to help the Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets and other franchises that still struggle to put fans in seats. I say fold!

Actually, the best player on those teams was probably Mark Recchi. If I was going to choose a player to name that era after, Rechhi would probably be ahead of both JR and Primeau

Lazy, stupid analysis of the Flyers from afar.

Folks can say what they want about the local press, but the national press is TERRIBLE when it comes to analyzing the Flyers.

I'm not sure this is as much eras as it is season by season?
- dingo8urbaby

I would define eras in Flyers history as follows:
67-72 The we can't buy goal nor win a fight era
72-79 The Broad Street Bullies era
79-80 The Streak era
80-84 We choke every year in the playoffs era
85-89 The Keenan era (yes he was fired in 88, but the team wasn't that much different under Holmgren in 88-89)

89-92 The we pretty much suck era
92-00 The Lindros era
00-02 The dysfunctional era
02-06 The Hitchcock era
06-07 The year from hell era
07-09 The Stevens era
09-11 The Pronger era
11-13 The Mr. Universe era

And now begins, hopefully, the we win a couple cups era!

LOL I was at that game, my wife was just in shock. I kept laughing, while saying to her you should have been here in the 70s or early 80s, this was a weekly occurence.

If Havlat had played in that era and pulled that crap, they would have either followed him into the box or yanked him right off the bench. Either way, he would have gotten his bottom kicked!!

I actually say some fair analysis on NHLN after the draft where Craig Button was praising the signing of Lecavalier.

Frankly, I don't love most national media analysis of the Flyers regardless of nationality.

I feel like the same tropes have been recycled about the type of team the Flyers are and what their problems are.

Craig Button must have a mole in the organization just for nailing the Sam Morin pick on the nose like he did.

After seeing what Horton and Clarkson went for, it seems the Vinny deal was pretty good value.

I'm still not in love with the deal, but it's not like they grossly overpaid him.
