Except one time I asked for a coffee and it was lukewarm. The was pretty much empty, so they made me an Irish coffee instead

This donut and bagel debate is riveting.

Of course its being fuelled by our resident cop, Howard

The best part for me was the butchers, inside the resto.
Good selection, high quality.

Last year my GF bought Tuango certificates for that butchery...everything we bought there was very good indeed.

Tell me, which places disappointed you with their products?
- jugkope

Not many to be honest. I'm well informed so chances are I'm eating at a place with a good reputation.
Take buenanotte for example. The place is or was packed, but you'll never ever see a chef eating there. Short skirts, big boobs, bad food.

See, if u can cook your own stake it's not worth the mark up.
Same can be said of any steak house that doesn't transform or do something you can't at home. So I rarely ate there but did love that butcher shop.

Buena Notte? You probably mean David Homme-de-Lettre since OQLF went
there

Bolded sounds interesting though.

I go there now, as it's a 5-minute walk from my appartment: http://www.marchanddubourg.com/produit.html

I had never tried a dry aged rib steak before. It's very impressive.

As long as you know how to properly cook and season a steak I gotta agree with you. It's not as easy as it looks though...but I'm getting there !

No, back in the day they had artists sign plates for them.
People literally went there to see this David letterman plate.
Yeah I (frank)ed up the resto's spelling.

Plus with the price of certain cuts you wouldn't want to (frank) it up.
Totally understand that.

There's a small butchery very close to where I live now, gave it a couple of shots and I gotta say I'm very disappointed so far...don't know if I'll go back. I mean, I can get same or better quality from the Metro right next to it.

At Les Chefs this week they cooked some Wagyu steak. At $100/piece, this would be a stressful experience.

Gotta go easy on the Montreal steak spice though...so much flavour it can easily overpower everything.
