I know Phillips developped a light bulb with a software that you can control via your IPhone (open, close, change color based on the time of the day...etc). And the lightbulb is guaranteed to last 10 years.

Rogers has a home monitoring system now that you can control the lights, thermostat, etc. remotely from your phone.

All my outdoor lightning is LED, and every time I need to change a bulb, I replace it with LED.

Good move, the old owners at my house had fluo compacts everywhere...had to change every (frank)ing bulb in the house. Didn't replace them with LED though...but I'm thinking about it.
