http://bangordailynews.com/2013/08/02/news/midcoast/boothbay-harbor-lobstermen-report-great-white-shark-feasting-on-whale-carcass/

The news of the possible great white sighting represented the second time in two days that sharks stole headlines in Maine, as an unconfirmed shark report off Wells Beach attracted police attention Wednesday and Thursday.

Stay out of the water Geoff.

You can't just watch "here and there" and expect to enjoy it...I find. NFL Redzone appeals to that slice of the population, but then you're missing the point...and also, with TV, you miss a lot of the action that goes on in the trenches...which is totally underrated...and fun to watch too!
- number_23

I'm already doing that with hockey (which at least is fun to watch by itself). Not sure I can/want to do that for two sports simultaenously.

A well executed play is sweet...and sometimes it's just the anticipation of that one play that'll get someone to sit through a whole game...hoping to see those few plays.
That's also why no one watches the browns or cards...'cos there's no chance in hell they'll ever execute a sweet play...

Personally, I think the charm of football is the strategy...it is the most strategic of all the sports...

- number_23

it's funny how people like you who trash soccer without realizing that it's the same thing as football. you watch for the anticipation, hoping to see a few special plays. people say that football is higher scoring, yes, but not all touchdowns are exciting. people who enjoy soccer enjoy it for the same reason.

Hockey also benefits from being seen live...I don't think I need to tell you why...

but honnestly, I'm a HUGE football fan...played it...still play it (not tackle anymore)...and I get annoyed with the network coverage...the hype sometimes makes it feel like WWE... but I love football too much to stay away...

If you need a full week to create a build up, and 4 hours long pre-game show, and the game moves to a turtle like pace because of all the advertising, me thinks maybe the product isn't all that great.

I think soccer should be compared to hockey rather than football...because football has stops/starts to the action, every play is a strategy in itself that begins on the snap and is built upon from previous plays and adjustments made along the way.

Soccer is more like hockey in the sense that there's an underlying strategy but too many things happen along the course of a given sequence of play that you adapt as the play develops...but in those developments, I find that soccer pales in comparison to hockey...Hence why I find soccer boring...I just think there's not enough action and too much distance to cover. But that's my opinion, and in North America, that might be shared by a few...I'm well aware that I'm in the minority when you consider the whole planet...as Soccer is the most popular sport...but it's not for me.

I don't need the week's buildup...but the players need the week to rest! LOL...
