nah man he was pretty decent, just had a brutal matchup and no D support. Still no idea why Franson and Fraser had the Krejci line to start. Lucic just ate them up.
- Big_Lightnin

In that seires vs the Leafs, Lucic was the REAL captain. Chara was dog tired. When the score was 4-1, & Horton made it 4-2, you could easily see it was Lucic who rallied the troops. He was on the bench yelling at his players. Much like Roberts was to the Leafs in 2002 when Sundin was out. Leafs rode on the back of Roberts all the way to semi-finals.

I don't disagree with that re. Franson and Fraser. But to me it hi lighted the problem with Grabs...the fact that he can't be depended on to play in any kind of shutdown role. He's not big or physical enough and he's just not dependable in the dot. His effort never fails, but the results were not good.

I'm not sure if Bolland is that guy, but he'll be better than Grabs at it.

- djamon

oh ya Grabo is not meant for the role they tried to use him for.

still have no idea why they didn't put him on KAdri's wing at the 20 game mark and go Kuli-McLement-Komarov for a shot-down line. Was obvious that it wasn't working at that point.

would have made way more sense.

This whole blog seemed rediculous. The Only use the Oilers would have a for a talented yet defensively mediocre Center is if they wanted to keep Hemsky and roll 3 scoring lines and have only 1 shut down line. Even still, how could they afford that? Trade Hemmer and we have no need for Grabo. Keep Hemmer and we can't afford Grabo. I suppose we try and trade Schultz for a pick.even still how would that look?

Hall Gags Yak
Perron Nuge Ebs
Joensuu Grabo Hemmer
Smyth Gordon Jones
???
Probably score some goals but doesn't look to menacing to play against.

not nearly to the extremes that Kessel does...
- Big_Lightnin

Ohhhhh please don't even compare Grabbo to Kessel. Has Grabbo scored 30 plus goals for the last 4 seasons? Even in last year's 48 game schedule, Kessel scored 20, which over 82 games is an average of 35-40 goals. While I agree with u on one thing, yes Kessel is a jekyl & hyde. He does score in streaks, I'll agree but he always ends up with great scoring stats at the end of the season. That's why he's called, Phil the Thrill. Aswell, unlike Grabbo, Phil never takes a night off. He never stops trying. Sometimes he gets snake bitten around the net but he ALWAYS gets chances. I love this guy, God I hope the re-sign him.

Cause the anti-Grabbo people on here like me, have this illusion that if we keep trying to use logic, common sense & proven facts to explain the OBVIOUS follies of Grabbo, perhaps the pro-Grabbo people will FINALLY get it. So far no luck. But we keep trying for,,,for now anyways. Regardless, I wanted Grabbo gone long time ago. Took too long to get rid of him but I'm happy he's gone from the Leafs.
Relieved is actually the right word.

now I see the problem... you only have a 6 month memory recall.

nevermind then. all good.

Grabo was hands down the most consistent Leaf the 4 season prior to this one.

you're the only anit-Grabo person in this entire thread... and you are completely ignoring the facts, and stats, that refute everything you say about Grabo.

and that was just proven to be unwise...

really don't see why Edmonton would have interest here. If they traded Gagner, sure, by extending him seems to take away Grabo's spot... unless they are thinking 1 of them plays wing?

- Big_Lightnin

Ya doesn't fit in with edmonton because neither him or gagner are good enough to be a top six player on our wings and grabo is not a third liner so unless someone is being packaged with hemsky in a seprrate trade I don't see it happening

Well if the Cats are desperate for offense from a veteran & they can get Grabbo for no more than a 2 year deal, go for it. He could be an ok stop gap measure till the kids are ready to take over Cause anything longer than 2 years, you will hate this guy. And anything longer than 2 years, you'll be beggin Tallon to buy him out.
- GCHonda

I agree anything over 2 years and I don't want him. I feel he would be a good fit in our system but im sure he won't come here probably wants to much $...

"Ottawa in the mix"?
The team that is overflowing with centers .

REALLY ????!!!!

- bixbiro

I doubt Ottawa is in the mix, but you never know. Grabovski can play LW and can switch to center if Spezza gets hurt.

if Grabo isn't going to EDM, he better not come out west. I do see him going to ANA though. I think I heard they wanted Derek Roy.

also I don't care if he's 5'5 120, if he can play he can play. This guy's been a dominant possession player in the past. I think in the right setting he could still be a 1C. If I were TO I would've kept Grabo n let Bozak walk

Gretzky was 6'0" and 180 - 185 lbs when he played. Enuf said!

Gretzky was a wus. Today's NHL is much bigger and physical as well

While I agree that he does need to add some weight, he's 6'1'' and 190 pound, 20 year old...cut him a little slack
- yakattack

I'm pretty sure he is only 175 still. 190 would be an ideal goal for him. Cut. That's all I'm saying. He gets pushed around. Ideally I would think 200 would be ideal. Not trying to give him a hard time just it is what it is.

Agreed. Cuz he has the skill and smarts. Nuge also has great skill and smarts. Like I said though today's NHL the boys are a lot bigger and more physical.

you can clearly see what theyre trying to build in Toronto though.
well rounded, strong defensively, physical etc.
I don think they felt grabo fits their style of play as well as bozak does.

and if grabo is your 1C, you're a bad team

last year he had 51P in 74GP.

this year he was playing 15 minutes a game against tough competition with a 36.7% offensive zone start which is Gordon-level tough.

Give him minutes against lesser comp with teammates like Hall n Ebs or Perron n Yak and I bet he could put up 55-60+

- Eklund

Unrealistic sure.... unable to work; hardly

Hall Gags Yak
Eager/brown Nuge Ebs ......Nuge is small blah bblah.. model after bos/pit.. yea yea
Perron Grabs Hemp a 3r line that looks like most teams 2nd ..me likey
jones Gordon smyth
joensnu (SP)

this is a 3 line scoring team, with added fighters, and a solid 4th.

when healthy a playoff team easy.

same could be said for Bozak...
though Bozak as 2C at $4.2M isn't terrible.
