here's my question.

in the divisional format; what takes precedence, the first place team in the conference or the last place wildcard team?

so for example;

LA-100 pts
sj- 96
van- 94

Chicago -98 pts
st.loo - 95
minny-93

Anaheim- 92
Edmonton-90

who crosses over to the central to play chicago?
the last place wildcard team the oilers?
or did the kings win the right to play the lowest seed and the higher wildcard team crosses over? (Anaheim)

what about if the 2 wildcard teams are from different divisions, but the lower wildcard team comes from the central in this instance? (say Nashville with 90 points while Edmonton has 92)
do they both crossover so that LA gets to play the lowest seed?

make sense?

Oilers can do better than that. That will be a very soft center core if they get Grabo.

Sure Grabo isn't physically big, but he plays like it. Lots of heart in that lion, I'm gonna miss 'em, and I think the team that picks him up will benefit from a man looking to prove everyone wrong... Show them why he deserves 2nd line minutes. And even though it would take some moving of contract(s), I'd like to see Grabo help the oilers make the post season.

When Grabbo was with the Leafs, he played his best hockey against his former team the Habs. Other nights against other teams somtimes u wouldn't notice him. If he played with a bur in his saddle the way he played against the Habs, he'd be awesome. He just doesn't deliver consistency on a regular basis.

He would be a nice fit for the Panthers short term.

Wow, Grabbo in the West? He'll get eaten alive. The West is a MUCH tougher brand of hockey with more skilled teams.

If the Cats get Grabbo, you'll be beggin for Weiss to return. Seriously, how much of Leaf hockey have u watched? He will not make your team better.

If your second last post was in reference to mine, you might need to re-read mine again. Because he doesn't put up points playing 10 minutes a night on the 3rd line, doesn't mean he isn't always hustling. The bur is all the talk about him not being worth what he wants/being bought out simply due to the size of his contract. Hence why I believe someone will benefit from his play this season.

gets rocked by biggest player in the history of the game... twice in the same game... later dances same player like a pylon and scores OT winner.

Of coourse, that is to be 100% expected. But it proves my point EXACTLY. He only plays his best against former teams. If he could play that way against 27 other teams, he'd be fricken awesome & probably a permanent center with Kessel. For sure it would have meant the end of Bozak in TO, Only Grabbo is to blame. Please don't use his unjuries as an excuse. Lots of guys get injured but when they come back they deliver consistencey. Just not Grabbo. He uses every excuse in the book for his inconsustent play. Well Grabbo kept taking hos bucket to the well the last 4 years & the bottom finally dropped out.

I have watched him play many times before. He is awful defensively but he can score goals which we lack. I would be willing to take a short term risk on him.

I will miss weiss but for the amount and term I won't. Weiss is not worth 5 mill for that long. Not with the depth we got coming up soon bjugstad, trocheck. I just don't want barkov jumping in as the #1 center to start.

And I think it's fair to say he was one of our best players against Boston in that series and essentially our recent history. Which is a bad history, but he's an obvious bright spot against our toughest opponent. But, he is short.

Grabs was awful against the Bruins. That series was his ticket out of Toronto.

yup.

plays like he's 6'2 though. prior to last year, he was the only Leaf forward that didn't look intimidated most of the time when Orr wasn't playing

Remember that was over an 82 game schedule. He gets hot for a while, than cools off & u don't notice him for a while. He's got the early 1980's Miroslav Frycer disease: He scores alot in bunches than dissapears for quite a few games.

This whole blog seemed rediculous. The Only use the Oilers would have a for a talented yet defensively mediocre Center is if they wanted to keep Hemsky and roll 3 scoring lines and have only 1 shut down line. Even still, how could they afford that? Trade Hemmer and we have no need for Grabo. Keep Hemmer and we can't afford Grabo. I suppose we try and trade Schultz for a pick.even still how would that look?

Hall Gags Yak
Perron Nuge Ebs
Joensuu Grabo Hemmer
Smyth Gordon Jones
??????!!

Probably score some goals but doesn't look to menacing to play against.

nah man he was pretty decent, just had a brutal matchup and no D support. Still no idea why Franson and Fraser had the Krejci line to start. Lucic just ate them up.

Well if the Cats are desperate for offense from a veteran & they can get Grabbo for no more than a 2 year deal, go for it. He could be an ok stop gap measure till the kids are ready to take over Cause anything longer than 2 years, you will hate this guy. And anything longer than 2 years, you'll be beggin Tallon to buy him out.

I don't disagree with that re. Franson and Fraser. But to me it hi lighted the problem with Grabs...the fact that he can't be depended on to play in any kind of shutdown role. He's not big or physical enough and he's just not dependable in the dot. His effort never fails, but the results were not good.

I'm not sure if Bolland is that guy, but he'll be better than Grabs at it.

not nearly to the extremes that Kessel does...
