He wants second line minutes, so why would Edmonton do this??? The only way this happens if Gagner decides to play on the wing.

there are several teams for whom Grabo would be a solid addition. Edmonton just isn't one of them.

Leafs bought him out because he's not a fit at 3C, and they decided to go with Bozak and Kadri as 1 and 2.

Oilers have RNH and Gagner. Why would Grabo even consider signing for a team that could very well put him I the same situation he just left, and was pissed about being in?

EDIT: and forgot about Gordon... so 3C isn't an option either.

Hey Ek is this like how you said the Oilers are in on Morrow and Bob Stauffer called you out on air last week and said they are definitely not in on him. He's an insider. You're just trying to get hits. Big difference.

TSN reported Jets aren't in on Grabs and EK has always said they were. Now he says they are out becuase they reuped wheeler. Like they weren't going to before, gimme a break.

Maybe macT is looking at options such as trade nudge who is as frail as hemsky for a top d man. Deal him while he's worth that before he has huge injury problems. Boy needs some gear and get jacked up a bit. Too skinny

While I agree that he does need to add some weight, he's 6'1'' and 190 pound, 20 year old...cut him a little slack

Just because a team is deep at center doesn't mean they won't bring in another center if a good opportunity comes up.

Philly brought in Lecavalier and Toronto brought in Bolland this off-season.

This makes no sense. Clouts is that you? First we don't have the cap to sign him.
Where would he play..3rd line as he won't displace anyone on the first or second. Didn't he just rip TO for playing him wrong as well. Please do simple homework before putting this troll blog up.

a bunch of things would have to happen for this to make sense. move hemsky first, and then if grabo could play wing on the 3rd or if theyd like Gordon on the 4th.
the nuge might not be ready for September, and our center depth is weak even with him healthy. (at present we're hoping lander on 4th I believe)

id entertain a one year contract. nothing longer though

Where would he fit on Edmonton? Our top 2 are Nuge, Gagner. Unless he would play on the 3rd line.......
- oilersrule66

I have no problem taking Grabo. Set the Oil up to have 3 attacking lines and a decent 4th line of aggitators/bangers.

Hall - Nuge - Ebs
Perron - Gags - Yak
Jones - Grabo - Hemsky
Smyth/Joensuu - Gordon - Brown

the only way I like it really is if hemsky gets moved for a physical, defensive 3rd liner.
I realize mact has stated we're pretty much past hoping to have a big, bruising forward core and that we're gonna try and run a puck possession/skating type offence.
but we still need SOME size and grit in the top 9.
that one is very small and doesn't have much 'jam' to make life difficult for the opposition physically.

meh, it was $1M too high, but he was UFA and they couldn't afford to let him go. I didn't hate it, just didn't love it.

He'll sign for $4M per at least.

RNH could be gone for a month.
Hall-Grabo-Ebs
Perron-Gags-Yak

Get rid of N Schultz for cap room, keep hemsky so Grabo can play with him when RNH returns. Deal Grabo at the midway point/deadline for whatever they can get

Edit: Grabo's numbers pumped playing with RNH and Ebs. Maybe decide between Grabo and Gags at the deadline

Agree and disagree. While all Oil fans would love a huge/skilled forward, I really believe this team will compete differently under Eakins and if you look at Hall, Perron and Jones finishing their checks, not as soft as you allege

doesn't matter if he's 5'3, he'd still be better than any C in CGY

because depth is a bad thing

We won't be hurting many opponents, but if this lineup can play physically smart to seperate guys from the puck with speed, it might be enough to draw penalties and kill them on the PP.

I think we're seeing a different model being tried in Edmonton, and I don't think MacT would toss away a skill guy like Hemsky for a brute when he's clearly said he wants to be a quick, possession team.

I hear ya though, there's almost no jam in this lineup.
