Can't believe some Canucks fans would trade a 4th for him. Detroit had him as a healthy scratch at times this year, he had one of the worst(I think maybe the worst, but I'll have to double check) puck possession numbers on the entire Detroit team. Not to mention that the refs would love calling him for penalties even more so if he was a Canuck. We would basically be giving Detroit a draft pick to help them clear up cap space and to make our team worse.

Thornton is like the Canadian version of Henrik. Great passer, doesn't shoot even when he should. Loves to cycle, leadership/toughness has been questioned by many. Kessel is not the type of player that I'd want to build my core around, he's the type I bring in to put a team over the top and if he makes it to UFA he's definitely not going to sign in a hockey-crazed market IMO, seems like the type of guy who would love to play way down south as long as he gets his money.

The thing is there are other UFAs to be picked up to maybe at bargain prices. Heatly could be had for 3.5 Gaborik should be around 4 mil JBo around 4.5 Marleau around 4. Sedins around 4 Dion around 4.5 .

We all know some crazy GMs will offer around double what I mention , but money is running out and more and more teams are locked for the next few years.
