Probie was a WARRIOR for the Tomahawk and cleaned up his life in Chi town....he BELONGS on the team.

For those of you who complained about Sharp's contract (except Ogi who has been reformed) how does it look now compared to Wheeler's deal?

Sharp was 5 years at $5.9 million. Wheeler is 6 years at $5.6 million, with a lower cap at the time of signing the deal.

I like Wheeler and I'd love I have him on the Blackhawks but he's no Patrick Sharp. The Jets did what they had to do to keep one of their best forwards but they overpaid.

- DarthKane

Him and Little got the "players don't want to play in Winnipeg unless they're overpaid" bumps on their contract

So what were people's thoughts on tonight's opening ceremony? I always like their videos. I really liked the ending when they showed all the fans reactions to the Hawks winning the Cup. Nice touch

Personally, I have no interest is these marketing events. I suppose the convention is great for kids, but for adults...a bit odd in my opinion.

I heard it mentioned that fans were chanting "Detroit sucks" early on?!?

If that's true it's embarrassing, and tiresome...

...move the F' on, they're not even in our division anymore.

There definitely seems to be a lot of tweens that go to this sort of thing. And the players coming in giving the crowd high 5's seems a little odd. But I always will like the videos they show. Can't wait for the banner raisings. I never got the whole autograph seeker thing. But the panels they hold seem interesting.

>Q has a lot more "Phil Jackson" caoching approaches than would appear
>Does a great job developing a private players' environment where players are accountable to each other, support and push each other
>Also love Q's emphasis on playing hockey at the fastest possible pace with emphasis on puck possession -- as a fan it's wonderful to watch your team have the puck most of the time
>What a blast from the past to see Bernie Nicholls on your list -- that cat could really dish and finish --butter-soft hands -- great on the power play -- but not much on the Dside of the biscuit

- SnapitUpstairs

Funny, I was thinking the other day Pirri reminds me of a young Bernie Nicholls. Maybe he can be that kind of player if a little more defensively responsible.

the part takes place from 3:47-3:55...it's the bench reaction when Bolland netted the game winner

Anything that gets the players out with the fans is good for both the team AND the fans - bandwagon or not, knowledgeable fans or not.

Savard in my number 1 line Center. Still remember the day when I bought his rookie card.

Bob Probert doesn't deserve a spot on that list any more than Brian Noonan.

Gonna respectfully disagree, vastly underrated as a hockey player, fighting aside, even though his best years were not with the Hawks

Isn't it a bit odd that adults spend as much time as we do on an Internet board talking with (mostly) strangers about a kids game played by grown men?

If you guys are saying it doesn't interest you and you don't want to participate - fine, I would agree with you.

If you're saying it shouldn't be held at all - you're 100% wrong.

Too much angst over marketing and advertising programs aimed at casual fans - these are a necessary part of growing a business, and we should want the Blackhawks (and the league) to generate as much revenue and interest and TV ratings as it can - makes for more and better hockey.

As long as the marketing doesn't interfere with the on-ice product, I don't care how many "one-goal" ads McD appears in.

You are right about the Detroit Sucks comments - which, BTW, I didn't hear on TV.

Nice lineup but I would much prefer Steve Thomas over Joe Murphy. As JJ likes to point out, Thomas always played big. Murphy not so much.

Thanks Savvy...prior to FINALLY meeting Steve this year, the closest i got to him was as he was leaving the Q and A forum at the 2010 convention, which i attended.

Nesterenko and White were before my time but i've read and seen a lot on them. Nesterenko as has been mentioned here...had a great cameo in the 80's cult hit Youngblood where he uttered one of my favorite lines...to his son played by Rob Lowe..

"you can learn how to punch in the barn
but you got to learn how to survive on the ice."

As for Bill White, i know he was a valuable member of the Team Canada during the '72 Summit Series win over the Soviets and of course that team and story is absolutely REVERED here in Canada.

Bowman said Pirri and Lebanc are the centers that are most ready to make the jump to the NHL. Like it or not I'd expect to see one of them on the 2nd line to start the season.

I´m ok with that. It´s 82 game regular season again and lot of games to be played before post season and enough time for Bowman to regulate roster if necessary.

Yes. If old man Wirtz did anything right, he tried to take care of these kids of guys. Probie was clean for most of his time, but fell off the wagon at the end. He did try a stint in the radio booth (with Jessie Rogers I believe) while he was in rehab.

They tried the same with Theo Fleury.
