Ok guys who wins Optimus Reim vs MegaJon next season annnnd go - xXwagzXx
You win with those nicknames. Bernier: 52 games, Reimer: 30
Come playoff time (yes they make the playoffs) Bernier is the regular but there is talk of making a change once they lose a game or two. |

Toronto is far from the only team with this problem right now...there are still several RFAs out there needing to be signed of importance (Stepan, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, Wheeler, Hodgson, Cowen) to name a few... - Colin Dambrauskas
Well the rangers signed player well before stephan as well, rangers have no money like us barely left. St louis buffalo senz and jets have money. |

The return for Dion would have to include a minute-eating D-man, likely with much less offensive skills. I'd be fine with that considering Gardiner, Franson, and Reilly not so far away. - 1979AD
I was thinking the exact same thing there.. |

Idk if you can move phaneuf without leaving a massive whole with the leafs. So trade phanuef and sign Franson and let Franson play 30 min a game eek idk about that. - jake24242

Just that Edmonton fans over value every single one of their players. Surprising they haven't had a winning season with all of the HoF'ers like Petry that have wore the blue and orange over the last few years. - Lipchitz

not for that price.
but if Leafs retain $1-$1.5M he is tradeable without having to eat a contract in return. - Big_Lightnin
3.85 for a PP quarterback on a team that needs one is actually a really reasonable price. He only signed so low out of loyalty to Burkie; if you recall, he was commanding 4.25+ seasons prior. I doubt the Leafs would have a hard time finding a taker; he just doesn't fit the system, but fits many other clubs' |

Ok, I can see this is going to go the way of a 3 stooges conversation soon if Leaf fans really think that is the value of Dion.
RNH for 1 yr or two? of Dion.
Are we really trying to come to a deal that benefits both teams? - yaktalksback
no.

Every team has Dmen who are not drafted high and take around 5 yrs to develop. The Oilerds and Petry are no different. He's under the radar of those who do not watch the Oilers much, but he has become a good player. |

|
I don't get the hard on for Petry, wasn't a high draft pick, his stats don't jump off the page (in fact before this year they were pretty terrible to tell you the truth) and his AHL production isn't even great.
So am I missing something or? - TheLeafsInsider
Classic case of an Oiler fan overvaluing there players. I blame Cloutier!! All these articles on how Hemsky and Petry are going to be traded for Lucic has affected some of these fans. |

If you recall, he has had a pretty serious concussion since and never returned to form, and he had a full summer to rehab.
I guarantee you he has had a "free to a good home" sign on him all summer, and he's still here.
No one wants Liles at full salary without sending a contract back. He's a risk on damaged goods with too much term.

After this season, unless he steals the show, I'd say likely. Or if Bernier puts up huge numbers early, I could see a team like the Oilers overpaying (Eakins link) for Reimer. |

Sure to an extent but, I don't know if there is a fan base that expects huge returns for average NHL'ers quite like Edmonton. |
