So is everyone caught up on Game of thrones now? Can we start talking about what we think is going to happen in the next book yet?

27th all time on the NHL all-time scoring list? 21st in goals? Most goals and points in franchise history? Most goals and points by a Swedish hockey player?

17 straight 20 goal seasons to start his career (tied with only Marcel Dionne and Jaromir Jagr in that category*)?

Nah, that's all crap. Wasn't as good as we thought he was. Any old chump can put up 13 30+ goal seasons, right?

*NOTE: Had he not played only half a season with Vancouver, he might have eclipsed both of them for that record.

I never said he was a chump. Just said he wasn't elite in any season he played in save one in Quebec. I said he was great, just never in the top 10-15 players in any given year.

He was, you have to go back, we were discussing that the LEafs have never had the best player in the league and haven't had that many really elite guys in their history. His name came up because I believe Dion, like him are great, but not in that top superstar teir.
- aminnes

Well, technically speaking, over the last 30 years, the best player in the league has either played in Edmonton, LA, Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit. 25 other teams haven't owned the best player in the league during that time.

I know what you're saying dude, and I know you're not trolling.

As for Sundin, I'm going to be ripped apart here by my brethren, but I believe Sundin was a better winger than centre. He was an elite centre, but as a winger, he was more dangerous and always elite. As he got older, he became an elite centre. And what he did on the international stage, with real talent beside him was downright scary. Kind of makes me angry that in a time with no salary cap we didn't give him some bloody first liners to play with. And yes, Almo did play with Sundin for parts of a few seasons, but it should've been more regular. And Steve Sullivan would've looked great beside Sundin if we had just given him an opportunity here.

Remember when 50 goal Jagr was a free agent? Or when Gretzky was ready to sign here?

Considering what Sundin played with. It really does blow my mind. But maybe we just didn't see this on tv.

I go to sleep thinking what Sundin and Iggy would have been like. Both power guys, both with poop to play with on their teams.....man....

1996-97: 7th in league scoring (and these were truly the lean years in Toronto)

Oh come one, we all know that Tywin and the king hated each other, the king was bopping his wife and Tywin couldn't do poop. The whole line: "you're no son of mine" was to be taken literally. I actually feel bad for Tywin.

The TV show doesn't do Tyrion's hair justice, there are several mentions in the books of Tyrion's hair being less blond and curly and more white.

In the era he played in there were 30 guys putting up 30 goals every year, that deminished into the 2000's but in the 90's there were even 10-15 50 goal scorers. In terms of the overall points and such, the ppg wasn't all that spectacular. Guys played al lot less game sin the old days so those figures are a little scewed - the same way goalies wins are going to be scewed with th SO wins. Again, not a chump, but just to put it into perspective.

Whenever someone gives me a "Oh he's elite but his teammates suck so you just don't notice" argument I bring up Iggy because he got like 15 players paid over his career because they happened to stumble over the bench when he was on the ice. Iggy was so (frank)ing impressive in Calgary for like a good 8 years from 01-09

Maybe the HHOF voters who made him a first ballot selection didn't have Leafs season tickets... Or all those international competitions were rigged for Sweden.

95 points in 79 international games playing against the cream of the crop. That's how good Sundin was.

It's true that he was never the best player player in the game, but he was ALWAYS in the top 10-15 for nearly two decades. That's unreal. And when you go through the list of guys who outscored him, you get names like:

Jason Allison
Ziggy Palffy
John LeClair
Alexei Yashin
Pavol Demitra

Those guys might have put together a few great seasons, but absolutely none of them can begin to come close to touching Sundin's career.

Iginla was impressive, and the best part was, he could fight. I wonder what he could've done with a real #1 centre. I mean look at all the Team Canada's he was chosen for.
