He played quite a bit with him in the playoffs. He also clearly has potential to be on the top pairing, which you can't say for Gunnarson. I think he'll have to earn the spot, but barring any severe injury I would bet on him all day.

It's been a long time since he did that, However for a million dollars, he's a steal and should really improve our blueline depth.

Yup, Babe Pratt. Kind of interesting factoid there: aside from Bobby Orr and Chris Pronger, he is the last defenseman to win the Hart.

I didn't know anybody on here was affiliated with the Toronto Maple Leafs management. Also saying 90% of the people on here are saying something usually means the opposite thing is true!

I agree, they were amazing together. But Franson and Fraser had remarkably good chemistry last season, unless that falls through they will be together this season provided they are both signed and not traded.

Name one single legitimate 1st line winger Sundin played with in their prime. Just 1. you can't.

Also, he scored 41 in TO twice. 30+ 1 times.

Goals weren't the problem. Linemates who could finish at a reasonable rate was the problem.

He's not untradeable, that's your assumption. His contract isn't even that bad, nor is his salary hit. It's just a matter of him not fitting into Carlyle's system and having Gardiner basically take his spot. He's still a serviceable player on the right team.

Gunnarsson plays a lot of minutes as well, what's your point? Still a #4 Dman. Sometimes it just means that a team doesn't have anyone better to do the job. ie: Bozak, Gunnarsson, Aulie.

While the Leafs may not have had many Hart Trophy winners, they have most certainly had many very high end players. A list of the top 100 players in NHL history would include many Leafs.
