People are going to have differing opinions on him, his game has shortcomings. That's a reality.

Both are possible but if I had to guess I would say Franson caving in and signing for less on a short term deal or trading Frasor after arbitration is over and replacing him with say Brennan are more likely. That would likely save enough to get Franson done.

The Gunnarsson signing was a mistake, especially for 3 years. It's as if the Leafs management team can't see down the road at all. They did the same thing with Grabovski, signing him for 5 years at 5.5 million, meanwhile we had Bozak as our 1st line centerman, which Grabo was never going to play, and Kadri waiting in the wings, to obviously play 2nd line center as he developed, which only would have prevented that. Don't stop there, sign Liles to a dumb contract, when we have Gardiner waiting in the wings, than go and draft Reilly, even though we have Gardiner, and Liles signed for another 4 seasons. Next season, I have to believe Reilly makes the team, so we'll have Phaneuf, Gardiner, Franson, Reilly.....where do Liles and Gunnarsson fit in going forward, the answer is they don't.

I liked Sundin, but like Dion, I never put him in the best players in the league category. Actually, the history of the Leafs is barren when it comes it really high end talent. Never once have they ever had the best player in the League, and thats a long time...

You mean like being played about 7 more minutes a game than he should? Opening up a huge can of worms of mistakes like any other player that gets played beyond their capacity?
