With the depth of our Defensive prospects I'd be okay with trading Franson while his stock is high. Could go a long way in shuing up our forward prospect depth. I think it's reasonable to expect a good prospect or a mid-late first round pick. Certainly seems that the likes of Reilly/Percy/Granberg/Holzer will be in the mix if not this season, certainly by next. |

This is just plain wrong.
Rising cap may open up 6 mil, 2 mil in buyouts come off the cap.
Kessel will need a 2.5 mil raise to get to 8, phaneuf a mil to get to 7.5
Those are worse case scenarios, and it still doesn't come close to eating up the space that's available end of next season. - joel878
Seriously what is that guy smoking? Looking at $14.25M, without the cap going up, in cap space just from Phaneuf's/Kessel's contracts and buyouts expiring. There will be more than enough $ to land both if Nonis chooses to. |

ummm you said he sucks I didn't say it
but you can't pay cut Dion after what Clarkson signed for, it seems the market decides over opinion - puckhead17
I guess when you state he's only had 1 good year....I was taking it that he sucks...anyways...i'm sure more than 50% of the teams in the league would take him and his salary in a heart beat.
I would trade Phangoof at the drop of a hat. He plays a lot of minutes but there not the greatest of minutes IMO!!!!!

Your still forgetting what I've been saying. They would be able to pick up another guy, someone in the 4 million dollar range. Andrew Farrence type guy. Ranger even being up makes no sense right now. This team is in tough to make the dance as it is. - aminnes
Okay, so your grand solution is swap Ranger with Ference on the top pairing to play with our new #1, Carl Gunnarsson?
What you aren't realizing is that Ference isn't a top pairing guy, either. He's a solid #4 on a contender.
Gunnarsson, Ference, Franson, and Gardiner don't even get you within a sniff of the playoffs. I shouldn't even have to explain this. |
|
|
|
That kind of hurts Philly's cap situation even more if Franson truly wants 4-5 million.
They still need to unload Coburn/Mez. - Leeman4Gilmour
Yeah. Philly is super worried about the cap, said no one ever.
I imagine they could just get a higher quality dman for couturier. If not, maybe they'd be happy with a dman of fransons quality, and some extra quantity. Who knows. |

Gardner instead of Franson - puckhead17
Why would the Leafs even want Couturier? Way bigger fish to fry than landing another non-first line C. |

Im talking about Franson and Kadri. And Im talking about this year, not next.
Perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, unless we can get rid of Liles, we are (frank)ed. - Leafs43
Gotcha.
I read you wrong on that one.

Obviously they both had their hands in it, but didn't we discuss like a while back or i read somewhere that majority was Nonis' doings for the trade? Nonis had a key role to burke as well. 2 Heads better than one right - Mapleleafs_91
I think Nonis was over there a few times to keep the media off it too, but ya, Nonis did a lot of GM'ing while he was #2.

I thought he said the Leafs two best players? Silly anyways, the money or the option to open up enough space is there. |

Agree we would look for a future 1st line center not a 3rd or 2nd line center. |

He has top line center written all over him.
Something that is a rare thing in the leaf organization. |

And as you can see kadri and Franson's numbers are abit low. Do not sign Fraser and give that money to Franson. - jake24242
Sure but then you are carrying no extras except the back up. Kadris deal will be close to PKs number which is 2.8 something |
