With the depth of our Defensive prospects I'd be okay with trading Franson while his stock is high. Could go a long way in shuing up our forward prospect depth. I think it's reasonable to expect a good prospect or a mid-late first round pick. Certainly seems that the likes of Reilly/Percy/Granberg/Holzer will be in the mix if not this season, certainly by next.

Kessel will need a 2.5 mil raise to get to 8, phaneuf a mil to get to 7.5

Those are worse case scenarios, and it still doesn't come close to eating up the space that's available end of next season.

What you aren't realizing is that Ference isn't a top pairing guy, either. He's a solid #4 on a contender.

Gunnarsson, Ference, Franson, and Gardiner don't even get you within a sniff of the playoffs. I shouldn't even have to explain this.

That kind of hurts Philly's cap situation even more if Franson truly wants 4-5 million.
