Wow I was wrong about you. My apologies
- Ihatebrianburke

No problem, it is a misconception that I only ban non Leafers but trust me, I ban people who I think deserve it, regardless of what team they cheer for.

Think Cammy will have a bounce back? And are they thinking about keeping this years first on the roster? I really lost track with the Flames, I would rather them in the playoffs over The Cans or oilers any day of the week.
- Jay Uller

Cammys in the last year of his contract, hell play lights out to get himself another big pay cheque, but the Flames want to move him and he wants to go. No interest right now with his cap hit but Im willing to bet hes moved at or around the TDL.

If you're expecting Paul Ranger to cut it as a top 4 defenseman after 3 years of non NHL action, you're placing the bar way too high, and you're going to be very disappointed. This guy is trying to get his career back on track, based on people's expectations of him in Toronto, this may have not been his best spot to do such a thing. The expectations should be a bottom pairing Dman at this point in his career, if he gets the NHL game down again and can regain his top 4 form, we should all be pleasantly surprised...Instead you're expecting that after 3 years of no NHL action, a good showing in the AHL for a 28 year old with 250+ games of NHL experience, of course he's going to play well in the AHL, to be in our top 4. If this guy was a top 4 defenseman off the bat, 1st he would have had more suitors, second, his contract would not be 1 million. He needs to prove himself, allow for it to happen, gradually. Bottom pairing defenseman, with the potential to become a #4 Dman if he regains his form in the NHL.

I would have preferred to parlay those monies into Fraser.

I have banned just about every Leaf poster in this thread at least once, I don't play favourites. If you break the Code of Conduct I will warn or ban you, I don't care what team you have under your name, ask any Leaf poster here if I banned them.

The leafs have a ton of D with the potential to be top 4 this year. They will all battle it out for the spot. I dont think anyone is saying Ranger has to be our 4th. it could be alot of others as well. Maybe Granberg plays himself into that spot.

He did actually. But nice you have no idea what you are talking about.

He signed a 1yr, $1M contract in order to get a NTC, cause he needs to be in Toronto for personal reasons. I don't know what the are, but it's the same reason he wouldn't sign an NHL contract last year and chose to stay in the AHL, much to everyone's surprise.

If Franson is in the lineup, Ranger will probably be bottom pair. If Franson is not in the lineup, Ranger will be 2nd pair.

It should be Franson, but Nonis can't seem to notice the skill he possesses.

Ok a 5th overall in a poor draft year is worth far more than a 7th overall in a deep draft year. You're clearly right.
- Ihatebrianburke

This years draft wasn't 7 deep. It had elite players at the top. You are confusing the 2014 DEEP draft with this seasons which by all measures was fairly standard. Additionally Rielly dropped because of a knee injury, not his talent level. After a season of improvement and performance that exceeded expectations he has shot up draft boards and is widely regarded as the top defensive prospect in the 2012 draft.

Now consider Nurse, who many felt was a reach at 7 after none of the top players (outside of Nichushkin which is a whole other conversation) fell to them. He's had no games to improve his stock and right now is an NHL body without the skillset. Now consider that Nurse is further from the NHL, has less skill, more risk and less of a track record and tell me how he is a comparable prospect to Rielly.

given the surgery he's having and no training camp, Horton will probably be pretty ineffective once he comes back, but will give them a boost anyway.

all about goaltending with them. If Bob plays like last year, they're in the mix. If not, they're not.

Though that can be said for lots of teams I guess, Leafs included obviously.

- Big_Lightnin

Taylor Hall came back from his shoulder surgery around the same time last year and did very well. It'll take a little time to get his legs back but he should still be a very solid player.

Mike Augello: Leafs Looking To Trade Franson?
- mikeinbuffalo

Great... A pick and a prospect, eh, Dreger?

Picks and prospects mean nothing to us at this point unless it's a damn good pick or prospect.

Trading Franson for some mid-tier prospect and a 2nd would be a huge mistake. That's not an example of buying low and selling high. That's buying low and selling low.
