Duck is so delicious.... I have a plan (not sure for when) to make a turducken roulade using turkey breast, duck breast and chicken breast.... maybe with a spicy apricot stuffing, but that can be changed right up until the point of cooking

nice

Duck is amazing. I have a duck breast in my fridge...usually peel off the giant rind of fat and skin and render that down, save the fat in the fridge for whatever, put it on anything

I didn't even comprehend how fatty duck is, I barbecued a whole duck and the fat is isane and so good...

Funky pickle is good but expensive... Famoso is a small chain, but does some amazing pizza

As for burgers, Burger joint is awesome (see previous post). Sugar bowl by the university does a lamb and goat cheese burger that is penomenal

Pfft! Funky Pickle's pizza's flatter than my crushes in 1990. Only reason they are still alive is because they are in the heart of Whyte Ave.

Personally... Chicago's around the corner by the Onion.

We left the end of April 2012.

Mind you WE never went to the 'PINT'... lived on the north side.

Last time I've been to the onion was like around a decade.

I think that's the last time it was cleaned prior to the purchase/reno...

The pint is okay, but I'd prefer for grab a nice beer/bottle of wine and go out to the deck/hottub with the wife

Do yourself a large favor...I have made a sport out of this T.O burger spot trend...and up until yesterday....the list went as follows.... 4) square boys on danforth 3) 5 guys 2) priest 1)holy chuck ...... But yesterday... I had the pleasure of trying (now keep in mind even tho I had to grill this one myself, it was so goddamn delicious....I had to put it at #1) a bacon infused fresh ground chuck from the butchers son at yonge and Lawrence!!!! Holy Christ in the heavens of Aqaba....this easily beats 5 guys in my mouth at any given time best burger on the planet! I'm going to have a bittersweet time in the bathroom this am, as it will be hard to say goodbye

lol thanks for the tips man

I love cooking and food, but I often dread eating out in TO, even though there is a lot of good stuff...because so often it's not THAT good....especially with what I call 'restaurant hipsterism' in this city. You hear about the new place that everyone loves and you go check it out and you're like...meeeeeehhhhhhhhhh. I'll keep these spots in mind

They're pretty awesome!

And I hear you on the restaurant hipsterism, it's a pain in the ass. I find generally that urbanspoon is a good way to find out a more general view, rather than have somebody in a plaid shirt and tight pants insist "hey guy, this is the best [insert food item] in the city!"

It's amazing. I lived in Edmonton for a couple of years and figured I'm here, I may as well go skiing. Rented skis, got hooked the first day and ended up buying gear and going out dozens of times. It kills me being back in the east in winter now. Spent a lot of time hiking and canoeing in the mountain parks in the summer too, just incredible.

I find it gets worse the more you cook for yourself. A lot of the hype is generated by people who don't really know food that well, so every new happening place with cool decor and a lineup to get in is 'the best ever'! I go and often I think man, I could have made this better...or, a food trend starts and then EVERY place does it. Fish tacos, burgers, ramen, charcuterie boards, and $14 cocktails rimmed with candied bacon...that's basically TO food in the last few years...not that there's anything wrong with that, but meh

If you ski or board, the Rockies are a must. Marmot Basin, Sunshine, Lake Louise are all unbelievable. Over on the B.C. side Fernie and (frank)ing Kicking Horse are insane. 4000' vertical drops and little to no lift lines. I haven't done Whistler yet.

I'm going to Tremblant this winter, always really liked that layout of that mountain too.
