Ramo is decent, but not a chance in hell that he's anywhere close to Kipper. - Artyukhin76
One thing to remember this is not the same Ramo you last seen in TB. He has worked hard and now is in his prime afterbeing the best goalie in the KHL last year. He is better than either of the twin towers in TB in my opinion and I'm a Flyer dude. |

Oh yah... You mean the *Wunder Kids*
It kills me that a group if kids on a team are labeled *Young Stars* when they haven't won anything... In fact one of the bottom teams in the league. Are you a star because you we're drafted high? Doesn't make sense. - Captain_Quiffe
written like some one who has only ever won anything when attending chuckie cheeze with his lttle sister
WJCs, Memorial Cups, MVPs, All Star Selection, U18s, picked first overall when you achieve one these yes you to can be a star. |

Well Kipper couldn't get ice time with the Sharks when he came to Calgary so anything is possible... We would like to hope but expectations across the board are pretty low this year... - geta02it
Yes. No one has real expectations for either, which is nice. And thanks Ian...I meant to bring up Gillies too but forgot. Good point, though hes quite a few years removed given hes only 19. |

damn - a Flyers fan says Ramo is good....thats it, its over, hes likely garbage!!

Enjoying this blog Colin and here are my two cents worth. I think Ramo is likely to be the favourite right now for starter but I have this feeling that Berra could be the one to actually be the star and replace Kipper. Either way it would not surprise me and I would be over the moon too if Ramo and Berra manned the pipes in 2013-14. - flyerdude17
Thanks, and I agree...Ramo will be the guy for the next season/two while the team develops. I'd be surprised actually if Berra out plays MacDonald, but hes making a case for the backup spot! |

Ya...well...chances are he isn't because Kipper was one of the best in the league for a long time. That being said, who knows who we have in Ramo or Berra for that matter? Both have been acknowledged by their respective country's by receiving invites to their Olympic camps, so it a least goes to show they are probably worthy of starts in the NHL. Both are at the right age to make the transition to the NHL and enter their prime, but it might not work out for either of them! Either way we shall find out soon! |

These two are just the stop gap before Gillies is ready. According the Calgary's assistant GM, Gillies is the Flames No.1 prospect period.
And honestly, Gillies out played every goalie at rookie camp by a wide margin. - IanEsplen
Interesting, when did he say this? I want to read the article because that is quite the statement. |

Youre right, but prime Kipper was what...30-34 years old about?....both these guys are late 20's. Playing in front of a rebuilding team is likely where they struggle but I think fans will be content with both guys given most expectations. |

My only real worry....will either of them really show what their potential is when they are getting absolutely shelled? Good news is the most games I could see for Ramo would be about 45-50 next year so we wont have to worry about him getting tired. |

I think the Flames will be ok with their defensive systems and players...sure theres some holes to fill on defense but I think its better than their offense. Cant say most games will be lost because of GA, more like GF. |

The best goalie in the KHL? Why? Our 4th stringer that's in the KHL Jaroslav Janus has similiar GAA and save %. Kind of a bold statement of a guy that couldn't play in the AHL. |

Don't get me wrong, I like Ramo and wished he would have stayed, but to say he's the best KHL is a debate. To say he's better then Bishop or Lindback is silly (not you the othe guy). We also own the NA rights to Kosheckhin.

ortio also could prove to be a decent tendy, but yes gillles is the future possibly could start to trend like american counterpart gibson in the anahiem org. gibson is lighting poop on fire the last 2 years. anahiem will be able to address other needs with goalie depth and if ramo and berra pan somewhat out flame will be able to do the same. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmm

Seriously what has Bishop or Lindback done so far?? Not one of them have completed a full season as a starter. Truth is TB does not even know which one will be the number one. The will likely share the pipes pretty evenly unless one of them really stands out and puts up a string of W's. Please don't call me silly, lol |

And Ramo has even less then them. Both have better numbers in the league they all played in. I don't doubt Ramo, but facts are facts, the KHL is the hockey equivalent of the AHL NOT the NHL. Ramo will play well in Calgary, of that I have no doubt, but Bishop and Lindback are better. And I didn't call you silly, just your statement. |

No problem, were good! I think Bishop could wrestle the the one away from Lindback but both have huge potential to be solid starters but have not proven it yet. Ramo is in the same boat. I disagree with the KHL being AHL category, I would rate it some where in between but KHL is definetely better than AHL. |

I think it's Bishops. He's more calm and collected. the guy I am really intrigued with is Kriters Gudlevskis. didn't know much about him, but we drafted him as an overage pick in the fifth round in this draft and then I went to youtube and found this:
