If a 30 goal guy's production drops when he's traded to a non-playoff team, I bet a playoff team would be willing to take him at the deadline and offer up a decent return to do so. Blame the low production on the team and bank on the past performance of the player.

Or why take the risk that a 30 goal guy could be successful here, like it here and resign here. Madness...

Not to compare David Clarkson to Thomas Vanek but this is why I think they should trade him now. After Clarkson's hot first half of the season last year, I wanted so badly Lou to trade him at the deadline. Definitely could have gotten something of value then instead of losing him for nothing like we did. Vanek had an amazing first half last year, and while he cooled off, I think most people in the league still have that run he had fresh in their head. With the roster Buffalo has next year, Vanek's numbers are likely to take a big dip. I think he has more value now than he will at the deadline.

This notion Moulson wouldn't score here because of our centers is dumb. Pominville did just fine with Hodgson/Hecht whoever. He didn't create space on his own or score Vanek like goals. Mouslon would produce close to the same IMO 20-30 goals
