That would be sick. I know the draft isn't as deep next year, but 2 firsts and 3 seconds sounds near perfect for a team in a rebuild.

Minnesota would be a great trading partner
They have a lot of good forward prospects that are almost "NHL ready"

Only issue with a lot of the proposals I've seen is that we can't take Heatley from them NOW bc of his injury
He can't be traded till he can pass a physical
And if taking him as part of a deal is necessary, it's very risky to wait...
Vanek could get hurt himself
Or could have a subpar season & they could change their mind
And what if Heatley doesn't get healthy by the deadline?

I'd think there'd be other teams that would make "good" offers for him
It makes me nervous to wait for the "right" offer
But I see what Darcy is trying to do (I think)

Last thing we need is an unhappy player here though
As long as we can get good value for him (and we should be able to),
Then the sooner we ship him out, the better

I'm not sure but Moulson without Tavares is Drew Stafford 2.0. Vanek is much, much better at making plays by himself.
- buffalofan19

Stafford needs to get his head out of his ass and play consistant hockey

He's married now. All is well in Stafford land. What could go wrong?

Why would a "REBUILDING" team want Phaneuf?
Doesn't make sense to me
ESP since its doubtful he'd re-sign here

Based on what? We haven't seen Moulson without Tavares since Tavares came into the league.

I don't see a problem with that as the return either. Moulson has put up a ton of points over the last few years on a less than spectacular Isles team (yes, I know he plays primarily with Tavares). And IMO, I don't know that you get much more than that for him at the deadline and I'd rather get something than watch him walk away for nothing.

I was afraid if I said the word Boner, one of our few female members would be around and there it is. I need a red-face emoticon.

Ya,
I like the idea in theory
But it makes me nervous taking back a player on an expiring contract
I'd rather get a guy like Strome from them,
Or another prospect or two since he's prob "untouchable"

Based on watching him play, and watching how he plays. He's a finisher, not much of a playmaker in his own right.

I was gonna say the same thing. Phrases like "another Stafford" get thrown around unjustly. Moulson has 3 consecutive 30 goal seasons. He's a really good player

Outside of the injury risk, don't you think it makes more sense to trade Vanek at the deadline when teams have capspace, the cup in their sights and are ready to pony up prospects and 1st rounders?

There's just no suitable deal right now with that 7.14m cap hit or he would of been dealt at the draft or something.

Stafford isn't a finisher. That's his huge problem. That and not caring about being really good. Don't lump solid consistent players on with him

Disagree, keep it up. As long as the blogs are insightful. Leapfrog the troll blogger as often as necessary.

Of course it does, until his injury bug either makes him play like poop or keeps him from getting traded altogether

We don't KNOW,
But it's reasonable to assume that Moulson wouldn't be as productive here
And it's quite possible there'd be a significant drop off
Tavares is that good
If Moulson come here & say only has like 10-12 goals at the deadline (which I could see happening)...
Can we still get a 1st for him?
Maybe, But probably not

Not a risk I'd wanna take
I'd rather get another 1st from them in 2015, or a good prospect or two...

And if not the Isles,
There's gotta teams out there willing to make us a pretty good deal
