Considering Vanek is a UFA next year I think Buffalo would have to add another piece to make that happen, unless a Vanek extension was involved. - MannySilvers
In his interview it sounded like he'd consider an extension with any team he's traded to
Also, it's a foregone conclusion that Vanek will sign in Minnesota if he gets to UFA |

Of course it would be contingent on that. If he does not Buffalo would send something back. |

I know it's a pretty weak jab, but I'm pretty sure you Jersey fans will be dealing with these jokes for a while haha - SpoiledByOil
Yeah well you know the whole Kovalchuk situation has sort of set our franchise back at least 5 years so if we don't laugh about it we'll start throwing things. |

Rumors are in the $4MM range, but those are just rumors. But that is all we can base it off of at this point.
In honesty it could be language of the contract. NTC/NMC, term, etc. I have not heard anything in awhile, Darcy is good at keeping things quiet. - ImThatGuy
Well they would have to sign him for at least 5 years to give him a NTC so I'm not sure it's that unless they are sold he's there No. 1 centre going forward. |

Not sure I liked any of those deals. I suppose the one with Detroit had some possibilities. |

Little bit, but to sweetened the deal because of the card. How about i throw in a FRAME picture of a smiling Gino Odjick?

Any idea what Cody thinks he's worth?
I'm thinking he's worth around 2-2.5 million per for 3 years. - IanEsplen
I think that's a little low. Probably closer to $3M - $3.5M if for 3 years. Cody probably thinks he's worth $4M - $5M though.
His old buddy Duchene got $6M for 5 years. Cody probably doesn't think he's only worth half (or less) of that. |

Gagner just signed for $4.8m, so $4m might look like a bargain. |

Cody has proved already that he is not the sort of guy you hand a NTC to yet. Maybe in a few years, but not now. He has no leverage either. No need to give him that sort of thing yet. |

How about Eller + Beaulieu + Leblanc + 1st - Frank0721
Eller is damaged goods. Concussion and shoulder surgery. Aim a little lower than Kane if you want a deal with the Jets. |

Why would they make Steve Ott captain when they could make Cody Hodgson's dad captain? - KB3Point0
The real question should be why hasn't Cody's dad been named GM?

It probably would, but Cody hasn't really earned it yet.
The question is, does Buffalo want to lock him up long term at a reduced dollar value, or go for the smaller "bridge" contract that could potentially lead to a larger long term deal in 2 or 3 years? |

Yeah, hard to compare, but the look on Odjick's face makes me think that he is asking himself how many potatoe can he stuff into his nose |

I don't mind Cody, but he has a lot of work to do in his own end before I'd commit long-term to him and make him one of my core guys.
Cody is a tier lower than Duchene, Kadri, Henrique, Gagner, etc... in my books.

Eller is not damaged good. Just see what Pacioretty did after is broken neck.
As far as Kane is concern, i agree he is going nowhere.
What about Plekanec, Diaz and a 2nd for Bogosian? |

To DET- Vanek and McNabb
For
To BUF- Tatar, Abdelkader a 2nd(turns to a 1st if Vanek resigns) and the Sabres keep some of Vaneks salary
Vanek and McNabb? No thanks, Tatar and Abdelkader are most likely going to be 3rd liners (tatar might be a bit better) and Vanek playing with Datsyuk pretty much guarantees that 2nd/1st will be a very low pick. - Sabresfan-365
Tatar is easily a second liner. with the amount of potential he has he'll be well worth it in 1-2 years. As for aby he's a hard forechecker with some skill, but needs some/a fair bit of work. Saying that, I would remove McNabb to make the deal fair for both sides. |

To: Van - B. Dubinsky + B. Jenner
To: CBJ - R. Kesler
Columbus gets a #1 C to play with Gaborik/Horton or both, and remove Dubinskys under performing $4.2m cap hit. Vancouver actually presses the "reset" button, adds another quality prospect down the middle and adds a little sandpaper to the top 9. Kesler does have a NTC, but Columbus is only a 3 hour bus ride from Livonia MI, so I think Kesler would waive to be so close to home. CBJ is right up against the cap, so there may need to be additional pieces one either side to sort out the salary. |
