I'll take my punishment knowing I crossed your line but the Canuck threads have been the sewer of HockeyBuzz the past few months. We take sh!t and abuse from passive-aggressive trolls day in and day out with seemingly little if any repercussion. The same trolls in here stirring it up with "honest questions" and "I'm not trolling but..." We been asking for another Mod for months to no avail. So, yes, sometimes against better judgement, one of us will lose it. We appreciate your work here and understand you have a real life. I apologize in advance in case it happens again.

I liked that he actually went all-in this season though.
- Nucker101

I hated his deadline moves. I liked any one of the additions on it's own, but not all of them together. They slowed and aged a team that was built for speed.

Um, Carter wasn't exactly a "bold" move on Lombardi's part, Columbus was looking to dump him because he was unhappy there and had requested a trade. Philly tends to try and make a splash every year because Snyder owns Comcast (which owns whatever the name of channel Versus is now that has a lifetime contract with the NHL) and therefore make more money due to fan interest.
- DariusKnight

You're right, the Carter addition was a huge move, but not very "bold." The Richards move was very bold though. Lots of young talent shipped out of LA on that one. Lombardi made a number of bold moves that year, including Sutter who many thought was a huge mistake.

Thing is, it happens in EVERY other thread. People in here just seem to take it more personally and people seem to get banned for next to nothing.

Exactly so the general public believes that pitt is one of the best teams in the league hence why they are favored. I never said I would bet on them but if you gave me Vancouver or Pitt I can tell you I aint picking Van and not many people would. DO I think they are better than Bos or Chi?? No but thats just my own analysis.

Vegas odds are built on who the favorites are. Look at the superbowl odds. anything is possible at any given moment its what we call sports. The Saints were ranked the 22nd best team when they won it.

Keep betting the farm on Van. There is a reason why they are 16:1 to win it.

- Bluechip23

I would absolutely bet on Vancouver over Pittsburgh. They have much better goaltending and defence. Pittsburgh has high end offensive talent, but they are not constructed well to win in the playoffs. They don't have anyone capable of shutting down the opposition's top scorers, they don't have the ability to prevent the opposition from scoring. They are also a worse team then they were last year, while the Canucks should be, at the very least, mildly improved (more likely significantly).

Last year Vegas had Pittsburgh as the favourites too. The Canucks and Blackhawks had equal odds, the Flyers were ahead of the Blues and Sharks, SJ was also behind the Sabres. The Sens, Leafs and Canadiens were even with the Panthers and Avalanche. The Islanders were 2nd last at 100-1, the Bluejackets were 300-1.

The Penguins beat a team Vegas had at 100-1 and then a team Vegas had at 40-1. Yeah, pretty impressive.

Do you have any rationale for thinking Pittsburgh is in the same class as Chicago and Boston other than that Vegas says so? You haven't actually provided any analysis.

Pitt made it the conference finals and yet they are over rated?? If they are overrated and suck what does that make vancouver for getting swept in the 1st round.
- Bluechip23

We got called chokers for losing Game 7 of the SCF because we were odds on favorites in that series (and the playoffs). PIT were similarly favorites last year and too many people to count were saying things like "just hand them the trophy". So, yeah, they were over-rated.

Not to mention it addressed none of the team's needs - D and G. It feels like Shero had his eyes closed for the playoffs the last few years and prefers to focus on regular season performance.

This place has gone really downhill this summer(even by HB standards), can't remember the last time I had a good discussion here.
- Nucker101

This is true. That said, it was arguably worse last summer, which is why I tuned out for about 6 months. Really couldn't handle another p!ssing match with a Leafs fan about Cup wins and any other juvenile theme of the day.

I blame it on the dog days of summer with little to no hockey news. And we still have another month of this so enjoy the summer gentlemen. I'm getting ready for the fireworks tonight.

You can defend your honour without degrading minority groups. There is nothing wrong with being gay. All of these insults equating homosexuality with weakness or negativity aren't necessary for telling trolls you don't like them.

And as the Muffin Man points out, those same trolls feel that they are being banned for nothing. I get PMs from them asking how I can ban them for trolling while allowing vitriolic homophobia go. We can't have it both ways.

the pens are flawed without question. i think the nucks/pens would be an interesting series. id prob go with the pens in 7, though im very unsure.

and I agree that the nucks are a quality team. id say top 6-8 and a real contender. but how improved from last year?

a healthy kesler is the only thing I can really think of.
your signings were mostly just depth guys as you didn't have a lot of space.
I believe luongo is still a good goalie, but I never heard anyone in the canuck fanbase say they didn't think schneider was better. so if you were all correct, then you're gonna be marginally worse in that category, no?

or do you think torts is a huge upgrade?

I think he's thinking a healthy Kesler and a healthy Booth is almost like getting 2 new players over last season. The Torts factor is an unknown at this point, though I'm not a fan of his style and think his SC winning year distorts his track record.

IMO I'm not sure we're any better than last season and certainly worse than 2 or 3 seasons ago.
