Right, because if the Leafs traded for Stastny and kept Grabovski, they would have no problems with signing all their RFA's....

however, even if we forget about money.

Kadri > Stastny
Bozak > Grabovski

- Cooshie

If I had to choose 2 of the 4, it'd be Kadri, Stastny.

How about this:
Bozak @ 4.2mill > Grabovski @ 5.5mill
Kadri @ 3-4mill (??) > Stastny @6.5mill

Fairly simple concept, huh?

- Cooshie

Ok, so having kadri at 3- 4 million is cheaper than stast yes...but better...dont know yet.

Right, I get that as you already said you would like to do Bozak, Franson and someone for Stastny.

My point is that it's a bad trade at all levels.
Stastny has a 6.5mill contract and only 1yr left (will probably get similar even though he is not close to the player he was 4yrs ago because that's what happens with UFA's). Is he better then Bozak? Sure, if all things were equal but Bozak at 4.2mill plus Franson is too much to give up for Stastny at 6.5mill.....

Not sure I can make it any simpler then that.

If landing Stastny were an option, perhaps Bolland would be the odd man out.

You begin the season with Stastny, Kadri, Bolland, and Bozak (not a bad problem to have) and you might end up flipping Bolland during the course of the season if an extension looks unlikely.

Yeah, I think we need a full season to know this, I agree.
But no GM in the NHL would trade Kadri for Stastny today - Kadri has more value right now then Stastny does.

Hence: Kadri > Stastny

Liles and Kulemin for Statsny.
- Lipchitz

Tempting, but I would rather do Franson if we retained portion of Stastnys cap hit

Guy hasn't even played a game and you're already talking about trading him, after you picked him up less than a month ago...Love Leafs fans

For Franson and Kulemin, you'd have to retain damn near all of it (which I don't think is even allowed).

LOL - Leaf fans would trade their own mother if they could get back some NHL hockey player who's career is spiraling downward.

Let me guess, lots of "stupid move, 5 years off 48games" because already saw that kind of nonsense on twitter.

Liles + another 3mill!

Edit - so I guess Liles + Bolland for Stastny?

OK...I could live with that.

Yeah, but its unrealistic as hell. And I'm aware of that.
And I don't think Stastny will hit 6.5 again unless its in FA. If we resigned him when we got him via trade, it'd be cheaper.

But it wouldn't be a bad trade on all level. We'd upgrade at C. Thats a good thing.

As well as ship out Liles

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm going to answer anyways:

From the guys that go the other way.

Unless you think the Leafs can get him for a 2nd round draft pick.
