#3's gone as well. He's garbage and all he ever does is give the puck away and cannot shoot. Someone lied to me when they said he was the 4th or 5th highest scoring dman the past 3 years or so.

im hoping dion is 6 or less.

While he could probably get that much or more on the open market, I dream of the day when the Leafs will become one of those teams where collectively everyone considers the benefit to the team of taking slightly less than they could grind for.

because i'm sure he demanded it if he was gonna move up with the big boys
the guy has obviously had some personal issues and insisted on staying with marlies last year, wants stability

as for why the leafs agreed to it.. why not, if he can't hack it with the big boys they can send him down and it won't hurt the cap, also teams may be reluctant to pluck a guy off waivers who has a one way contract where as the leafs probably aren't too worried about a million dollar shot on a guy who could return to form

its 1 year 1 million, not a big deal

- dragus84

Fair enough.

He's a good depth guy to have for sure.

It's kind of a double-edged sword with GM term. On the one hand you don't want them on too short of a term that they will sacrifice the future to win now to justify getting an extension but you also don't want someone who isn't doing a great job to be running the team for a long period of time.

So far I'm 50/50 on Nonis. He's done some things I liked and some that I disagree with. Based on that 5 years seems like a lot to me. Three years would have been more than enough to keep him comfortable enough without locking us up long term to someone who hasn't really proven their worth so far.

i agree, and lou mentioned, if nonis isnt cutting it, they will just fire him and pay him.

the term and the $ means nothing, but its a sign that they like what he's done so far with the team *in my eyes at least.

THere's a reason why Lupul, Kessel, JVR, McClement, Clarkson, Bolland,Phaneuf, Bernier, Fraser,Orr,Mclaren, Ranger,Gardiner,Liles,Brennan and the rest were either traded or not re-signed.

No one who's any good ever gets traded

I wouldn't say that Stastny is regressing... Colorado has an abundance of talented Centers. Stastny is capable of putting up points still

Looks like regression to me.
