Franson trade speculation will heat up. Leafs would like to keep him, but $$ is too much. Prospect and draft pick fair return? - MCharisma91
He looks at our lineup and knows he's locked on the right side of the 2nd pairing
Cody Franson finished 8th in scoring among d-men last season.
Ahead of the likes of: Shea Weber, Dion Phaneuf, Dustin Byfuglien, Brian Campbell, Mark Streit, Duncan Keith, Mike Green, Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Drew Doughty
He performed well in the playoffs and is one year away from UFA. Guarentee you he's seeking at least 4+, maybe pushing 5 on a long term deal.
That's why Cody Franson may be traded. |

Yeah, there was some of that for sure. But the biggest shocker to me was all the firsts we DID have that were wasted on terrible players. - djamon

If the Leafs trade Franson I'm gonna lose it. - Barx
Depends on the return.. The Leafs should just leave him unsigned going into camp and see how his tune changes when the season starts |

Said it at the time and I'll say it again: Should have used a regular buyout on Komi and used a compliance buyout on Liles, would have freed up more than enough to sign Franson and we'd still have Phaneuf, Gunnar, Gards in our top 4.
Franson > Liles
Unless he can trade Liles for an asset and not take back bad salary or something we're basically in a position where we either have to trade him for bad salary which doesn't help our Cap situation or we have to trade someone better than him (i.e. Franson). |

If we had of developed some youth with those teams they would have been dynamite... The downfall was always trying to trade for someone to play with Sundin rather than drafting.
I also think Clarkson is going to light it up in T.O. and no one will give a poop about his term by the halfway point of the season.
I'm actually really excited to see everyones opinions 180 once Kadri regains form and Clarkson/Bolland show you why we should be bringing in hometown players. - Jay Uller
Nicely put.
If Clarkson lights it up this season, will anyone really give a crap about his contract? It's just money. You have to spend to win.

I jst don't see us with a topline center when we have to face the Crosby's, Malkins and Bergeron's in or conference...The team Must be aware of the Leafs need to improve the position..Gauthier is years away. |

This is MY opinion on what prospects will make the NHL and be at least "good" players, not what players have the chance to be super-awesome NHL'ers:
1) Rielly
2) Finn
3) Colborne
4) Biggs
5) Broll
Haven't seen enough of Gauthier (their 2013 1st rounder) to place him anywhere. |
