$5 million for Hainsey would be a huge overpayment, $3 million is fair.

The reason that Hainsey remains unsigned is because he expects the same salary as he had last year and teams are not going to pay him that. He is not a $4.5 million dollar d-man. IF he is signed, it will likely be for half of that amount, if he is lucky.

Preach it brother! Hainsey was an overpaid, self righteous cancer in the the winnipeg organization. I can only hope the GM's can get together and agree not to offer Hainsey more than league minimum on a 2 way contract for his role in the nhl/nhlpa disaster earlier this year. 4.5 mil a year was bad enough, glad he is gone from winnipeg!

Anyone that signs Hainsey is overpaying, regardless of the amount he signs for! Don't believe me, just give it a few games!! He doesn't have a very good shot, he doesn't hit anyone, he doesn't block shots (unless he just doesn't have time to get out of the way) and he interferes with his own goalie more than the other team on most nights. He is good at laying on the ice either in the crease or within a few inches of it and he does like to be on his knees and pretend he is a goalie....although that usually seems to leave the player open that he was supposed to be covering. After all this is said, he would be a great fit in Philly or playing for Tortorella !! He would be loved!!
