You want to explain what part(s) wasn't factual?

None of it was factual, it's all your opinion.

"Vancouver now has a group of young players to start the reload around. Rather than going into full, "We're going to suck and hope it gets better" mode, they have a group that fans can look forward to, while still having an above average team."

You guys had better hope Gillis does not become Feaster 2.0 with that approach.

$17million per season for 8 seasons, I wouldn't worry about the Sedins.

Perry and Getzlaf have different styles and play with grit. Your favorite brothers don't and I would not throw that kind of cake around for two of the same player.

Going to agree with you on this one. I'd take either or over the twins. Not to knock the Sedins they are top of the line players.

Lu will be in camp and will not hold out and wait for a trade to happen.
6.7mm reason why to be at camp and ask to be moved by fully waiving his NTC.

You were suggesting that a team couldn't afford to have two players making $6.1m/season, clearly its possible. Regarding style, it is effective, their point totals prove that. They are not "my favourite brothers", but they will be the most productive Canucks to ever wear the jersey when they retire.

I for one hope that after this season, Lou, Hank, and Dank are gone. It is time to move on. With the cap space that opens up and the prime group of UFA's that will be on the open market, its time to reload and build around the younger players!
- deuce22

Very few teams successfully reload and build using the free agent market. Typically they overpay. The twins aren't going anywhere. The only question is how much they'll make next season.

Canucks have 21.5 mil in space without the sedins, its unreasonable to expect the cap to go up more than a couple million. If the Sedin's resign and Vanek comes to town, thats about 2.5 (max 5 if cap goes up) with only 15 guys signed.. Maybe possible if booth is bought out, but it would be tight
- GardinerExpress

Rumoured to go up ten million, as the cap is artificially low this season.

Sedins aren't going anywhere. They won't go to different teams and nobody will have cap space for both of them.
- Muskwa

Lots of teams would have the cap space for both of them next year. They aren't going anywhere though.

The question is why hire an expensive agency if you have 9 years remaining on an immovable contract? Perhaps these guys were brought in to facilitate a deal which works for all parties? That combined with Lou not talking, suggests it’s not all bunny rabbits and rainbows like MG says.
- VanHockeyGuy

My guess is that he brought them on to help facilitate a trade out of Vancouver. Of course, he could also have hired them to help negotiate his contract for next season if the Canucks do in fact buy him out.

Very well, show me the research backing up your claims.

I'll get you started.

"Selecting Roberto Luongo as our Captain is a significant decision for our entire organization," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement. "(head coach) Alain (Vignault) and I were looking for someone to lead this team, who inspires his teammates, is respected for his on-ice accomplishments and who embodies the core values we are striving for as a hockey club. We are confident that Roberto, along with Mattias, Willie, Ryan and all of their teammates, will provide this organization with strong leadership both on and off of the ice."

That sounds like an organizational decision to me, not Mike Gillis appointing Luongo captain.

Or, how about this:

"I want to put my whole focus on goaltending," Luongo said at a news conference. "I wouldn’t say it was a distraction. I think I could put something less on my plate. The less distractions as a goaltender (the better)."

This was the press conference where Luongo stepped down as the captain.

I could go on and on but you morons aren't worth it.

Why do so many idiots come in here? Two months ago it was "your in cap hell, good luck"

This is a tranisition year for the team. Far from All or nothing. Next year will be the cup year

They going to discuss contract extensions soon. My guess is they resign for two years and go on for one year contracts until they go home to Sweden. Though, if they decided to not resign them the Canucks would have over 30 million in cap space with six D sign and pretty much half of their forwards. But even with the Twins signed at less money the Canucks will have tons of money to spend next year on a player like Vanek or whoever else.
- Boinker

The Sedins have already stated that they will only be signing one year extensions from now on. They're family guys who have raised their kids in Vancouver. They likely have no interest in going to another team as long as the Canucks remain competitive, even if it means taking a little less money.

The advantage to them signing one year extensions is that they could help the team load up for a run at a cup by signing for very little, perhaps $1M or $2M each for a season if Gillis could use that money in the free agent market.

How many good years do you think they have left??

Also, Detroit will be all over them if they go UFA don't you think?

- Byfuglien Ate Me

Cause that's where they want to take their families to live after raising them in Vancouver their whole lives.

Really? Do you HONESTLY think that Mike Gillis is going to come out and say "I this" and "I that"? No, it's always an organizational decision, but as the general manager he basically has the final say in the matter. As for Luongo, do you HONESTLY think he's going to come out and say "I got stripped of the captaincy?"

Oh, and please, go on. You're shortsightedness is amusing.

Henrik Sedin has 74 points in 99 career playoff games = .75 ppg

Ryan Getzlaf has 59 points in 69 career playoff games = .85 ppg

Corey Perry has 45 points in 61 career playoff games = .74 ppg

I'm not sure what your point is?

They won;t go to a different team. They'll retire Canucks. They won't uproot their family to go Detroit, especially Detroit. They love it here and so does their family. After Vancouver it'll be on to Sweden. I honestly think they'll be first line players for another two years and second line players for another two. They have five years left. But I could also see them going back to Sweden after the 2015/2016 season.

In the cap era, how much longer can the twins expect to play together for? They ain't cheap and their styles are identical.

So Schneider wasn't traded?

Gillis never names Lu captain and then had it taken away from him?

Must have been one hell of a dream I had
