All I'm saying is that if it comes from TSN/Sportsnet, its probably not baseless... ther e is a little truth to it.
You people are living in denial
For example:
"Gillis didn't say he would try to trade Luongo" - annoyance
"Vancouver didn't ask for Gardiner & Kadri" - everyone
This despite the fact that you were all saying, and truly believed in your dear hearts, that Luongo was worth Gardiner, Kadri AND More, and so willingly believed that this was going to happen
And now that the tables have turned you are all in denial. - twiztedmike
This has nothing to do with the conversation. Troll somewhere else where your contributions are welcome..... |

It wasn't FACT because the trade never actually took place through the NHL...it was reported falsely, it was speculation on Chiarellis part to think the trade was official when it wasn't. Then it snowballed from there... - annoyance_101
So, even though it was Chiarelli saying "we thought we had a deal in place" it was just a rumor?
Anyone wanna bet that Peter Chiarelli is Eklund?
How is it not a fact?
Not sure I follow you? |

The fact was that there was a deal in place with Boston and a deal in place with Pittsburgh.......
Just because the outcome was that Iginla ended up in Pittsburgh, it does NOT mean that there was never a trade in place for him to go to Boston
Do you people get it now? - twiztedmike
Do you not see that Aaaron Ward reported it FALSELY, because it was just SPECULATION...yes there were talks between Calgary and Boston and Calgary and Pittsburgh...but even reputable sources are known to report something completely incorrect, Ward did not just claim that there were talks, i'm sure there were talks with LA too, the fact is, he falsely reported something...so even TSN and such make false reports... |

If we're living in denial why are you wasting your time? - A_SteamingLombardi
Because hundreds of years ago everyone in England thought the Bible was the truth and laughed and disregarded anyone who said anything otherwise. Just because they all didn't believe in science, it didn't make them right.
Despite this, brave pioneers of science like Galileo stuck to their guns and now people know better. |

This is not even the same situatiuon as Luongo. It was Iginla himself who confirmed that he wouldn't waive to goto Boston - there was no speculation or rumor, he came right out and said that he thought Pittsburgh gave him a better chance to win the Cup. It isn't even remotely close to the BS youre spewing about the rumors about Luongo..... |

Point is, it wasn't a rumor... If one of the people directly involved in the process speaks to it, it no longer is an internet rumor.
Maybe Aaron Ward reported it, because there was something to it. Why else would Chiarelli say he thought he had acquired Iginla? |

If you're going to come in here and beak off and try and piss off all the Canucks fans the least you could do is be accurate. Spouting off about things that are untrue and attempting to justify them by trying to spin rumours as facts is pretty weak and just makes you look dumb. Continuing in your attempt at annoyance by throwing out even further generic and random quotes makes you look like a joke.
You should try to form a reasonable argument or conversation. People would be much more receptive and maybe you could even get a valid point across. |

I brought facts and you all dismissed them as baseless speculation because it was convenient for you to do so, so you can continue with your current and misplaced beliefs. |

Because he's an idiot? No GM should ever talk about trades before they are made OFFICIAL...doesnt change the fact that TSN reported something that was false...its been known to happen, whether it was 100% their fault or not, they have the last say as to what they report... |

Maybe Gillis saying his relationship with Luongo is great is just a rumor..
I mean, Luongo hasn't said anything to support that, right. |

I get that Jay Feaster agreed to the deal with Boston, but Iginla rejected the trade.. Wait, does that make Jay Feaster a rumor too?

You still cannot draw the lines.
Here's how it works.
A TSN Source close to a member of an organization, lets say a Toronto Maple Leafs scout, gets tipped off by the scout about the ongoing discussions between the team's GM and another teams GM, say, Vancouver. A bunch of names are dropped.
The TSN Source then reports that these trade discussions are being held. Its called a rumour. Its not BASELESS Speculation. The trade discussions actually happened.
The trade falls through, it doesn't happen. This doesn't void the fact that trade discussions DID actually happen.

That is EXACTLY right, he can say anything he wants...it hasn't been proven as fact, therefore it is a RUMOUR |
