Never said otherwise. - KB3Point0
He never publicly said he would trade Luongo. The most he said was that it was unlikely that Luongo would be back.

Why?
Luongo doesn't owe the Canucks anything? Does he? Whether fact or factpinion, Luongo was told he will be traded. The guy didn't want to be there. Gillis has said numerous times he has deals for Luongo, some of those, Luongo has said Gillis never talked to him about. Gillis never delivered.
Maybe, Luongo hired a new agent cause he really doens't want to be in Vancouver anymore?
Just because they traded Schneider, Luongo has to be ok with everything now? - PatC80
So he doesn't have a paying contract to fulfill...?

Probably way late on the comment but Van is very very lucky to have the Olympics coming up in regards to Lou anyway. |

Wow.
You may just be the dumbest person posting on this site.
And that's counting stee-dot - Scabeh
Did you read the article??? He does not say "I will trade Luongo." In typical Michael D Gillis fashion he passes on his intentions in a very non-committal way.
"We're going to try and accomplish that goal," Gillis said this week. "We'll see what happens."
Saying he is going to attempt to trade Luongo and that he will trade Luongo are two very different things. |

Well I don't see the upside in a 31 year old. I'm sure there are more undrafted 20 year olds that we can give a shot. - manvanfan
You mean like Hamill? You know the guy that they also signed today? |

Hold on here...
So Gillis is asked if he'll trade Luongo, his answer is "We're going to try and accomplish that goal".
And you're saying he never said he wanted to trade him?
Are you just kidding around or... just slow? - Pecafan Fan
Can you freakin' read? I said that he never said he would trade him. He has stated he would try to trade him, and that it was unlikely that Luongo would return, but Michael D Gillis is a lawyer and in typical lawyer fashion he has always remained very non-committal in comments when referring to the attempted trade of Luongo. |

The point here is very simple:
Everyone and their mother knew he was trying to trade Luongo.
And he failed at it. Now he's got to fix the mess HE created. |

Who would turn down $64 million? Who would say, "I am not worth that"? Put it in proper context. If your boss offers you a raise, are you gonna say "No, I didn't work hard enough, I don't deserve it"?
The canucks have been trying to trade him for well over a year now, how is that holding up there end of the contract? Or did you miss that part? - PatC80
They're not contractually obligated to trade him, Einstein.
Seriously, some of the garbage that is being fabricated in this thread to justify shïtting on the Canucks is just ridiculous.

Yes, he was trying to trade Luongo. The mess was fixed when they traded Schneider. |

Jesus man, you know that rumors aren't facts don't you? That was pure speculation and Darren Dreger came out at the trade deadline and said as much.
No where in that piece OR any piece has concretely stated that Gillis asked for that......your spin-doctoring is an epic fail...... |
