Not exactly high praise. Sounds like a #6 guy. Except this one hasn't played in the NHL in 4 years and has some mental issues.

for 1 million who cares, people will whine and gripe about anything

this sounds fine for a cheap depth player
people are nuts

Willis concluded: “He has size (6’2”, 215 pounds) and offers two-way play – while the scouting reports are mixed, his underlying statistics suggest a player who was capable of advancing the puck out of the zone and good enough defensively to be trusted against top opponents. On the Oilers, the safe course of action would likely be to slot him as a third-pairing+ defenceman – plan for him to play third-pairing minutes but be aware that he may very well be capable of moving into a top-four role. Despite Edmonton’s glut of depth defenceman, Ranger would be a welcome addition both because of the game he plays and because at age 28 he has significantly more upside than most third-pairing rearguards.”

I predict that a Leafs defenseman or two will be shipped off to Philly for Couturier.

For real? I'm not being sarcastic... I'm actually asking if this is true... If so, that sounds like the end of Fraser... who I thought played pretty well for the Leafs
- SofaKingBored

He was and can still be a #3 or #4 defensman in this league, he was in Tampa and played really well for them. With the Marlies he was the guy Eakins depended on the most in all situations. I believe he can contribute a whole lot more than Fraser can, I will also go out a limb and say I prefer him to Gunnarsson.

I was just looking at something like that.

Maybe a Phaneuf (plus whatever you think needs to be added or not) for Coutirier and Meszaros. Cap events out, of course I have no Idea who is expendable on Philly

It's kind of like expecting Jason Allison when he came back, to be a 1st line centerman because he used to be at one point.

Could he be paired with Dion hypothetically speaking?

Thinking it would include Franson along with some other pieces, they'd have an extremely hard time fitting Phaneuf under the cap, not to mention, we're better off keeping him until Reilly develops further.

Jason Allison did not play a year to get back into playing shape. Can't compare a dman with a sloth footed forward player.

Allison was pretty damn good at one point, 95 pts in a season is pretty impressive.

If he had played a year to get in Shape he would have tore it up that next year.

Where is that guy playing now??

He may have been a little slow, but man could that guy rack up the points, practically a ppg player. His last season on the Leafs wasn't even that bad, 60 pts in 66 games, might be our highest scoring centerman in a season, since Sundin left

I would prefer to keep franson myself.

once they put Pronger on LTIR they are fine, the $ almost even out with the players exchanged.

That's cause he was the cherry pick king... That and once the rush came back the other way, the save would be made in the leafs end by the te Allison managed to get back to the opposition blue line
