I think it's more to justify the team's faith in him to the casual fan. It's like announcing "yeah, he has issues, but we're actively dealing with them". I mean, wouldn't we have been annoyed if they HADN'T done something about it?

I don't disagree that it would be better to not announce that, but the cat is out of the bag now. Hopefully there will be people out there willing to educate others about the process. I'll do my best tomorrow.

I wish you luck, but that will be an uphill battle.

I think last years playoffs was the beginning, this is the middle, and the end is a lot closer than we imagine. I'm not sure he finishes the up coming season in a Pens jersey.

I think it's sad because I still believe he's a very gifted player. I'm positive he'll flourish behind the right team.

Mental toughness,(keeping focus under pressure) has a lot to do with breathing and confidence. Some might argue in favor of positive visualization, but breathing normally and remaining positive are big in my book.

He really seems to forget his mechanics when the pressure is on. He started stacking the pads and diving around in the NYI series. His skates were catching edges and he kept getting caught with his feet 90 degrees the wrong way. He wasn't getting to his posts or getting his legs down quick enough. He's always had good feet and a good glove but he just seemed like he forgot how to goalie.

I think a sports psychologist and a new goalie coach will work wonders. If he can keep his fundamentals strong under pressure he'll be as good as he needs to be.

As seen in the regular season and the 09 playoffs he can be a top goalie. A new goalie coach I really think will help

I hope everyone tuned in for Liriano vs Strasburg last night. If you enjoy great pitching they put on quite a show and the Buccos won. On to the Pens we all know a trade is brewing and most (not me I'm thinking something bigger) assume Nisk is likely to go. What do you think is a proper return. Keep in mind teams know we need to deal him.

I remember seeing Liriano pitching for the Twins and he was amazing. I would have never guessed he'd be a Pirate. Strasburg looks like he still has a way to go to regain his incredible stuff. Still a nice performance. Just not as electric as he was before the surgery.

Nisky will be gone for nothing more than a pick and maybe a prospect. Can't afford to take on an NHL player unless it's "something bigger". I however think they're done. I think this roster is likely set other than maybe a surprise player like Payerl getting a chance.

They were both dealing last night for sure. Hopefully Liriano remembers we were the only team to give him a shot when his contract expires this year. As for the trades yea that's why I think it might be something bigger. I don't think Shero likes the fact he can't really get full value for Nisk because of the cap situation. Not saying Nisk is an all world defenseman but TK garnered a 2nd and he was coming off of 2 poor seasons. Nisk has been getting better each year here IMO. Other GM's aren't stupid they know we are in a bind.

Liriano got a 2 year deal....

Nisk was pretty rough down the stretch and through out the playoffs. He was pretty good before he got hurt but never regained that form. Whether he never completely healed or just eventually got exposed is the question. I sort of believe the latter. I think if they get a 2nd for him I'll be happy......maybe a middle prospect since defensmen are in high demand these days.

It will leave them with about a mil of flexibility which Shero usually likes.

Wow I thought Liriano was 1 and done that's good news. Everyone was rough in that Boston series I don't hold it against him. If he could pull out a 2nd in this situation I'd be happy. Would help come the deadline to have an extra pick.

I was lucky enough to see Liriano tear through AAA ball here in Rochester before he made the big leagues. Guy was a freak, glad to see him doing well again after the multiple health issues.
