For some reason, Cooke didn't make the list.

I'm sure if there was a list of the 6 Most Devastating Decisions Made in the Offseason, it would be on it.

Sean McIndoe does very nice work. His book was very good, I recommend it.

Unfortunately I had read most of what was in the book. But it was still entertaining. I love his telling of the 93 Kings-Leaf series.

I thoroughly enjoyed his read on how the departure of Matt Cooke was the down fall to sports in Pittsburgh as we know it, o wait that comes out in 2015.

Dead horse is officially beat.

Interesting take on Jagr but I think he left out that all the contenders are up against the cap so he got the most he could from a team that he believes probably won't compete and he will be traded to a playoff team. Trust me with Jagr it's always about the money and that's ok it should be.

Money's a thing, I think he also wants a significant role on the team he plays for. That limits him to teams that have an open spot for a top 6 winger.

Ha! Although in an Olympic year that wouldn't be the best idea even if you were on the outside looking in.

He can just do it before the playoffs start. Olympics will be over and he can just smoke his little heart out. Here's a question I'm sure Marijuana is on the NHL list of illegal drugs right? Well what about players who reside in Colorado during the season. Does the states laws superseed the NHL?

And Borts is signed 2 years 600k

Most of our current D have to go at some point. I liked what I saw from the limited sample size of Borts. Big physical guy who is steady but will mix it up. Let's see what he does when he has an opportunity to make mistakes.

I imagine the NHL wouldn't take state law over federal law.

Just saw the Pens signed Bortuzzo to a 2yr deal $600k/yr. I dont remember much about him, but if I recall correctly he did a decent job and had a handfull of goals off the point. Seemed like he had a hard, accurate shot.

Disco will probably need to protect him from the bigger, more physical teams.

Don't know why it needed to be made public that MAF is seeing a shrink. Actually, I think it's a violation of HIPAA laws.

I live in CO and depending on your job depends on if you can smoke or not. If you're required to be clean for your job then you still cant smoke it and you can be terminated by your employer. I go into refineries for my job and I have to be tested. I will be canned if Im positive.

Even that, if you're in an accident and its in your system, are you under the influence?

Until there is a scientific acute way of testing for marijauna it will continue to be treated the way it is.

There is no way to test for it like alcohol. You blow in a breathalyzer and you get a specific reading. Our society has come up with a number (.08 for most) that you cannot exceed in order to drive. Until marijauna has that kind of specificity it will continue to be illegal federally.

Well, that may be true but I still think it's dumb to disclose it. I see no purpose for it other than to announce to the world that their player is a "head case". If I were MAF I'd be pissed.

He should go to Ryan Miller route and throw some well deserved blame towards the five guys in front of him including the management team that oversees a gaffe prone system.

That isn't true at all, I will be explaining further tomorrow. That is a popular misconception about the field of sports psychology.

After doing some brief reading on sports psychology, yes, it appears it isn't all about being a "head case", but there still is a significant amount of focus put on the mental components of the game.

They should have just said something like "we're working on some new techniques with Mark" and leave it at that.

I can see it now.... The first shaky game he plays, the camera will focus on MAF and the announcers will start babbling about seeing a sports shrink. Then.... He'll be peppered with questions from reporters as will his team mates. If I'm MAF I'm really pissed this is out for public consumption because there is absolutely no upside to it.

To me, it's no different than saying, "he's got a body injury". The less said the better IMO.

I don't disagree that it would be better to not announce that, but the cat is out of the bag now. Hopefully there will be people out there willing to educate others about the process. I'll do my best tomorrow.
