"You can debate whether you want the young legs or the veteran experience," Yzerman said. "Generally, I've found that over the course of my time and playing, whether it's Stanley Cup Playoffs or international events, in these big games a lot of those veteran guys are the guys you rely on.

"Ultimately, we want to put the best team on the ice, but there is value -- great value -- in having that veteran leadership"

gay

the hall's, Duchene's, eberles are all in tough I think.
benn didn't even get an invite which is a joke.

and maybe some of the vets that many of us have questioned for one reason or another are probably in as of today anyway.
st.louis, nash, getzlaf. even marleau etc.

I almost want Hall n Ebs to not make it. Rested and eager to prove doubters wrong.

No to that leafs trade. Great as Weber is that is an overpay.

And on the Ovechkin thing yes he may choke in the playoffs, but at least he gets his team there. Would be an improvement in that regard for the Oilers.

- TheLeafsInsider

I think its fair value but the Leafs would be left with Bozak and Bolland as the top 2 centers. Weber and Phaneuf would be an amazing 1st pairing.

Anyone else hear Stauffer call Eklund out on his show today and say that the Oilers are not in on Brendan Morrow whatsoever?

assuming hall has a similar season next year, call me a homer, but I just cant even imagine leaving him off.
he's so perfect for that format.

was top ten in scoring, is one of the elite skaters in the game and can beat defenders wide with that ice size, will drive the net, hates to lose, tenacious and is one of the top few true left wingers in the game.
with so many centers in consideration, we need some true wingers.

ha. wish I did.

end of the day, I hope none of us ever actually put any stock in what ek/clouts says.

I hope it didn't take stauffer's comments for any of us to realize this.

scooby just trolls. bieksa is pretty dumb sometimes, but BUF and TO fans are much worse than VAN fans and I say that passionately hating the canucks
- TheNugeIsHuge

This off season has been a learning experience in that sense... but much worse is a stretch. Don't forget there are more TO fans, and therefore, they may disproportionately seem worse than the fewer, albeit equally retarded, Van fans.

Why you said no to that Ovechkin deal is beyond me. AO is one of the top 3 players in the league.

There are a couple of Pittsburgh fans that are incapable of seeing things from any other team's perspective, and genuinely believe that because their team is good, their garbage is better than any other teams role players. Some of my least favourite times here have been in speaking to (specific) Pens fans.

You can call it gay but it's true. I know you like to be Taylor Hall on NHL2013...but unfortunately this is real life.

I have to give you credit for turning down the trade for the oilers. That was a tuff one. And clouts... Please look at my post yesterday that included hemskys stats. THe oilers are doing the right thing by asking high for him and not giving him up for nothing. His states are too good for that. If he has another bad year (and i don't include last year as bad) then he walks at the end of the year and thats it. the market is so deep next summer it's hardly a loss. But again much better decissions this time. I think you got fleeced in the last one. not this time.

Okay I think this was a blatant troll attempt. I'm not sure but I think so. Just read up on scouting reports from pretty much any site or expert with credibility. Reilly is a better prospect.

Schultz is currently better then Gardiner, but I will take Gardiner. Just personal preference.

And Eberle has proven more, but Kadri was a better player last year. Can't really deny that, look at the stats. Too early to say on these two.

- TheLeafsInsider

I looked a few sites up and despite Craig Button agreeing with him, they generally have Rielly ranked higher. My opinion is that all comparasons of the players aside, Klefbom has been knocked down the list because he hasn't played in North America. Rielly should be ranked higher for that reason alone (if they are comparable players).

Gardiner over Schultz? At least you're going with his preference instead of trying to argue it. Good man!

Ebs has scored 34G and 76P in a full season. Until Kadri gets close to that (sorry, the asterisk on the data for lockout years don't do it for me), there's no debate in my mind. Plus, Ebs hand/finger was injured for a bunch of last year which he played thorugh, but his shooting went down the drain.

Wow it's gonna be a fun end of season if you're still coming to RCs threads in February when your team is mathematically eliminated

Not you for the most part, although I think Cloutier has on occasion poisoned you about talking Oilers altogether.

Too much money for too many years for Weber. Great as he is, we are in no position to give up 3 young, cheap assets for one amazing expensive one.

Its even funnier when Eklund was listing Cloutier as his source on trades at the deadline. Talk about the blind leading the blind. I don't put any stock into anything either of them says. I just come on here to shoot the poop with you bunch of jerkoffs

Damn straight there are more TO fans on here. Otherwise how could you rationalize Eks poll the other day of who the new cup winner would be as of now.

Sorry but that eller Williams deal is horrible. eller is already the better player, remind me again why a team needing big, talented C trades one on the rise as much as Eller for a 50 pt winger? And throws in dalton thrower to boot? Terrible, just terrible. Eller is criminally underrated and this trade is clear evidence of that. Brutal.
