Pure talent? Pretty close. One has an unbelievably good contract, tho. The other's stinks. - Travis Yost
come oooon. You gotta pick one. For argument's sake on your thread |

Say what ? - WaterBoy
Yeah that trade wasn't particularly close. Helps Montreal has room to deal a younger F, too. |

On talent? Ovechkin, close. On talent next three years? Hall. Including contract? Hall, not close. |

If you're high on Rielly it would be pretty silly to move him for Weber. It would take Nashville viewing Kadri as an All-Star and Franson + Blacker + Gardiner as top 4 D-men. I imagine Toronto could throw in some picks as well, something like; a 2014 2nd and 3rd round pick and a 2015 2nd round pick. - Lipchitz
eh i dont know too much about reilly other than what ive heard from others, so i will take your word on him. to me, hes just a pretty high level prospect in theoretical terms. i hate moving a star for a lot of decent but not great parts though. pieces like blacker and kulemin, as well as draft picks that arent firsts, they definitely still have value but if im moving a superstar thats not really what i look for. id want only like 3 or so assets coming back, but of the premium variety.
like i said, i totally get it if you say id be asking too much. to me, thats the point though |

I'd put them in a similar value category as of now. Eberle's 2011-2012 season and Kadri's 2013 season were both based a lot on luck. I think Eberle's the better player, but kadri just outscored him. I doubt he does next year though - TheNugeIsHuge
Eberle shot out of his mind when in 11-12, evidently at an unsustainable rate. It should be noted that over the last 24 games of this season he did shoot at 16.7%, not too far off from his ridiculous 18.9%. So it's not like he was a 12% shooter the entire year. It'll be interesting to see what he does next year. |

Gardiner > Schultz (arguably)
Rielly > Klefbom (easy)
Eberle > Kadri (durrrr)
It is pretty even. Even though neither team would make that swap hahaha. - Steven_Dean

You should hire me back on the grounds of that deal alone.
I'll lay out my reasoning later tonight. I'd be interested in counterarguments but I doubt they're any good.
Well, at least the MTL/LA counter. Buffalo fans still want my head on a stake. |

Colin Fraser, Dustin Penner. It's not like players have 'winning pheremones' or something that will their teams to victory |

Hemsky for Heatley - Byfuglien Ate Me
This is awesome!
Would totally rub Heatley's nose in it... I wouldn't wish that Heatley puke on anyone though... |

Clouts and Yost should go back to last years trade wars and see who came out ahead based on 12-13 performances. |

I would consider a Heatly for Hemsky trade- at least if we dont make the playoffs we have a scapegoat...
on second thought- heater is likely a cancer that would (frank) up our team and core - saskoil21
No, #OilHeater would be fine in the room.
Bring in a couple more Vets to help these kids along.
Kaberle,Hamrlik,Bryzgalov,Grabo,Heatley.
EDM makes the playoffs easy with those guys in. |

You've got to be kidding, Travis.
Why would it make any sense for the Habs to trade the only center with size they have?
It's a terrible trade for Montreal. They aren't even close to being a contender so trading away two young players for Williams is so (frank)ed. |

Weber is a beast and would probably lead the leafs to a cup, something Toronto fans ain't use to seeing in a half century - Snagglepuss
still to much to give up.
1 of gardnier or rielley + kadri + 4th round pick or a 2nd tier propect. |

"If someone offered me the offensive brilliance that is Ovechkin vs, let's say, Jonathan Toews, I'd pick Toews, because he's the kind of guy who wins cups."
LOL. It helps having pretty much the perfect roster around you. Saying "Toews is a guy who wins cups" ignores that he plays with: Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Corey Crawford, et al. If OV was on CHI and Toews was on WSH, OV would have 2 cup rings. You might take Toews over Ovechkin, but not because "Toews wins Cups and OV doesn't." You'd take Toews because he's a two-way center with elite defensive and offensive skills. |

Somewhat, but some UFA`s that are still out there should be considered:
Morrow, Grabo, Cleary, Hainsey, Bryz, Gagne, Murray, Wellwood. |
