I think this team is still limited in high end talent. Maybe Monahan and Baertschi can become top line guys but I'm not so sure. This team is better situated than a few years ago I will agree but this is going to be a slow painful process. I can't think of a team on paper right now in the whole NHL worse than the Flames and teams that maybe would be close like Florida, NYI or Carolina have more high end talent players. I don't think there is one forward on the Flames who could crack the top two lines of any playoff contending team in the league, maybe Cammalleri and maybe Glencross but that would be it and they sure would not play on any teams first line.

It's okay, once we get McDavid in 2015 things will all fall into to place.

Uh... Carolina? Buddy, have you looked at their roster? It's (frank)ing great on paper.

Great Blog!

I think the Flames are worse off now then they were last year or two years ago, but they had to get value for the assets. A big part of the fun of picking on the Flames is Feaster's decisions and that they should have started the rebuild a few years earlier.

Looking forward to meaningful battles of Alberta in the future

Wow! I never realized how weak Calgary is at the center position. How do you you as Flames fans feel these guys are going to do at center and which one of those is your number one center?

Best team on paper means nothing

Look at Vancouver, for a couple years in a row they were the best team. But when playoffs hit heart and role players mean more

Really enjoyed this blog.

Flames as an organization are definitely moving in the right direction in 2013, but I think Feaster could have done a much better job getting a better return for some of the players that have been moved out.

- Egleg

Yeah. He got hammered on Iginla and Bouwmeester. Needed more return. The drafting this year was great. 2012 and 2011 don't look good.

Feaster almost lost this years pick by going after O'Rielly...
