Definitely heading in the right direction now. My biggest problem with this team is I don't see where the scoring will be coming from. Of course Cammaleri, probably Stempniak, players like Glencross, Stajan, and Backlund will provide some depth scoring. I'm just not seeing the "top line" right now. Definitely alot of exciting prospects in the pool I would love to have on the Oil. Let's make the Battle of Alberta relevant again

replace your order of Stemp and Glenny and you are mostly correct.

What an interesting blog -- I really enjoyed reading this.

The Flames are clearly rebuilding, but they've obviously added pieces that give them hope for the future.

The bottom line is that the Iginla-Kipper teams maxed out, what, four years ago?

Stripping it down and building it back is going to take a bit of time, but just getting started alone means you have hope -- sometimes, just admitting where you are is the hardest part. Now, you just draft BPA for the next couple of seasons, give the prospects time to develop, hope for the best.

That's all you can do sometimes, and almost every team has to go through it at some point in franchise history.

Dont worry, I have notified the team and they have released a few extra positions to take care of this potential problem.

Daytime Housekeeper
The Calgary Flames are looking for Daytime Part-time (up to 40 hours per week) Housekeeping Staff. As a Housekeeper you will provide clean and sanitary surroundings for the Scotiabank Saddledome. The housekeeping staff must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following duties:

• All cleaning duties including: washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning, and carpet cleaning of designated areas to the required building standards.
• Emptying waste and recycling bins.
• Cleaning toilets and washrooms.
• Cleaning work surfaces and other furniture in the Scotiabank Saddledome.
• Ensuring all janitorial rooms are tidy and stocked with necessary materials.

Cheers

All depends on your drafting. But seeing the huge list of prospects, some should turn out.

This team is gonna stink

I would say thanks for your 2 cents but the penny is no longer in circulation. And since all sales are rounded up or down depending on whether over or under 3 cents, and yours is below your comment is worth exactly......nothing.

Better hope the Oil do better than CGY I guess, hey.

I think, thanks to some decent drafting, they're going to bounce back quicker than people expect and I think they have a shot competing for the playoffs this year. They're already better than last year. Last years team was built around a guy who didn't want to and was unable to carry a team anymore and a goalie who had already decided to retire and it showed.

They need the veterans to have solid seasons and a few younger players to take their game to the next level and they could do what Columbus did last year. You may groan and say another 9th place finish but it would be different. It would be a case of overachieving instead of underachieving and it would make it easier to sign someone decent from next years great free agent class than a bottom five finish would.

that 2011 draft looks really good considering the amount of picks and where they were...Feaster gets roasted for everything but his drafting looks very good if you ask me. Obviously time will tell

I don't know about playoffs but I don't think the team is as bad as people think...I keep hearing how they lost three top players

Kipper was terrible last year, Joey Mac was far better and even the AHL guys gave him a run
Iginla was terrible with tons of ice time and zero effort most nights
Tanguay was/is a turn over machine

Jaybo is the one I think they actually miss

Whatever happens it will be nice to see some effort/young guys get a chance

last summer everyone was talking about how the Jackets would be the worst team in the league by a mile and they almost made it, who knows

that's a pretty accurate assessment
JayBo will be missed on the blueline for sure

a mention about being close to playoffs is purely a dream... let's be honest, we have a terribly inexperienced top 6, you can't expect much out of it

I'm not picking them to win the cup I said they have a shot at the playoffs if things go their way. Look at last year Columbus and Montreal were picked to finish at the bottom of their conferences then Montreal finished fourth overall and Columbus missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

I watched almost every Flames game last year and they're no where near as bad as people seem to think they are. They were fragile last year due to lack of leadership. I can't count how many games they were dominating until Kipper let in a weak goal and everything fell apart. They are better without Iginla being expected to carry them and it'll be hard to get worse goaltending than they got last year.
