This was end of this past season. He's not ready to be made the superstar Toronto fans wanna make him.
- honesthockey

wasn't the end of the season, it was right after he returned to the line up, end of March

Mine was end of the season, during the playoffs.

Yeah we lost. Gardiner with the game winning assist.
- honesthockey

Mostly because Gardiner wasn't ready for the big time, eh?

I still don't know who is making him out as a superstar. Leafs coach said he is or can be an elite puck moving defenseman, I think he would know more than us on that position.

That sounds like the coach making him out to be a superstar to me. I can't think of any elite puck moving defensemen who aren't considered superstars.

Kaberle ?

is Brian Campbell a superstar? I don't think so.

"Elite PMD" refers to 1 aspect of his game IMO.

Kuleman's now a defenseman

Why would we want to move Kuleman? He opens up so much ice for his linemates.

Kuleman - Kadri - Lupul

Could be the 2011 Kuleman/Grabo/MacArthur line

- Garnie

Kulemin will not be on a line with Lupul

A Superstar defenceman is an all round player, I'm one that classifies players as, Superstars, Franchise then Elite.

Carlyle called one level of his play as elite, I don't make the connection to superstar.

Kaberle's not an elite PMD. Bryan Campbell, I'll give you. Kris Letang is an elite PMD with serious defensive deficiencies, yet widely considered a superstar.

He is an elite PMD but has defensive lapses, not a superstar or franchise player, imo.

cause you don't want Coutourier or cause you want to keep both?

Franson's going to be tight to sign, and make cap VERY tight. Trading him relieves that, and gets a very good young center in the process who's got a Low cap hit for 3 more years.

Leafs have depth on D to replace Franson or Gardiner. Don't have anybody anywhere near Couts in the system.

Fair enough. 8 years/58mill is a hell of a contract for a non-superstar though.
