So the Flames guys agreed that...

a 4th rounder and Luke Adam for Cammalleri would be accepted.

am I the only person that wouldn't mind that? We have NO 1RW scoring depth.. he has the high salary but honestly Cammy was ALOT ALOT better with talent around him in Montreal and LA.

Vanek - Hodge - Cammy

that could pot some hella goals!

- JVince11

would be fantastic. but doesnt that hinder the "rebuild"

That doesn't mean we don't want to be physical and Lucic has scored 30 goals before he isn't just some thug. He in my opinion is the best power forward in the game and I like that he has been given a shot to see what he can do every junior squad had a physical player on it and its not a bad idea to have one guy who can really throw the body or screen the goalie.
- blizzzard

well I do agree with you in that regard...

I would take Bobby Ryan over Lucic though... more scoring threat.. maybe slightly less physical.

Honestly.. Cammy is 31 years old.. solid offensively.. and coming off of a big contract that he knows he won't get another that big.... he can play both Center and Wing....

I don't mind him that much.. I really don't.. even if we sign him to like a 2 year 8-9M contract after this season...

We need scoring depth.. and proven depth too. It could get Vanek to stay as well.

Vanek - Hodge - Cammy
Armia - Grigo - Nylander

?? huh huh? Anyone?? huh?

the guy scored 12 goals in 41 games and has a career high of 26 goals and 63 points. that production is in line with guys like PA Parenteau, Mike Ribeiro and David Desharnais even.

Backes, Brown, Oshie, Ryan, and Callahan are all the physical I think USA needs.

Thanks...

wow.. beyond the "talent" USA really doesn't have a lot of depth at all...

I am also pretty surprised that there are about 6 or 7 guys from Wisconsin.. that is my home state for 18 years.. but wow.

- JVince11

I was surprised to see the list, some of the players aren't impressive at all. I don't understand taking Jones or Galchenyuk to orientation, it's not like those two are going to play in Sochi. Seems like a waste of a couple invites.

The main offensive core of Ryan, Kessel, Kane, Parise, Brown, Statsny and Kesler will be back and on D adding Bogosian, Shattenkirk and McDonaugh will help.

Goalies are tight as always for the Americans.

Palmieri, Galchenyuk, Jones, Bennet, Abdelkader, Bjustad, Smith and Dekeyser made me scratch my head though.

Exactly. I see it this way. Every team needs its share of physical players. Team USA is taking Backes and Brown too. Why not take Lucic. Kunitz is a player who did very well playing for Team Canada when he had his chance. He can be physical and has scoring touch. Marchand is just a pest, hard to play against and can score some.

that was my exact thought too... Abdelkader, Trevor Lewis, Okposo, Stepan, Smith, Saad, Carlson, Falk, Fowler, Trouba, and leddy were other ones that kind of surprised me..

Neal got invited to right ? I would take him over Kunitz but your the Pens fan so maybe you wouldn't ? How do you feel about it If him Crosby and Neal are all invited Crosby is a lock but I only think they take one of Neal/Kunitz. I think Neal could play the role of Heatley.

To be Honest Gibson has blown my mind he might not quite be at that level but holy he is flying in the right direction and could be the best goalie in the league in a very short time if he keeps on the pace he is at.

I wasn't too happy about that rat Marchand being invited to Team Canada, nor did I understand Laad and Hamonic. Hopefully they just get cut. Either way should be another great gold medal game between Canada and the USA after the Russians choke on a bottle of homemade vodka.

Galchenyuk scored 27 points in 48 games as a 19 year old. pretty good pace. and it's not uncommon to see 3rd overall picks make significant leaps in their second year. that's why he was selected, in case he does make that jump this year. the guy is big, strong, and fast, and he has the high-end offensive skill, which is the one thing the US does not have an abundance of up front. he's a long shot but i understand the inclusion.
