I'm ashamed to admit that until I read this blog, it never even really occurred to me that Lucic was Canadian! I just thought of him as Czech or something because of his name, I don't know why I never knew that.

Bergeron should be on the team, as a third or fourth C. He's just an amazing player, the insane faceoff % is like a perk on top of everything else.

I can't see Lucic or Marchand making the team, but only because Canada is so ridiculous at forward. However you never know and there's a lot of hockey and possibly injuries between now and then, they'd be on an on-call list at least I'm sure.

I'm not worried about the goalie position. One or two Canadian goalies will be red-hot by the time they have to make the call.

What does worry me is Russia having the home ice motivation, and Team USA in general in my opinion is the biggest danger to Canada.

I remember how bad Pronger looked in 2006 on that big ice.
Man that was brutal.

I think in his role we just have alternatives with a bit more speed.
I love his game on NHL ice...

Tuukka as a canadian would be by far the best solution to Canada's woes. I dont feel terrible as having Lou as a number one. i just believe it is our weakest position.

Corey Crawford stood on his head in the playoffs and outdualed Rask, how could anyone possibly think he couldnt handle starting duties?

I don't think Crawford outdualed Rask by any means. Rask was definitely the better of the 2 goaltenders in that series.

He's of deep Serbian descent, so that's not entirely crazy of you. I believe his parents are from Serbia, but I'm not 100% sure.

If your just comparing goalie stats, rask barely beats him out.

Although its hard to say Rask out dueled Crawford when the b's lost on 2 goals in less than 20 seconds with about a minute left in the game. That's shut down time, rask has to be a stone wall. He is at least partially at fault for that late game collapse that cost them the cup.

Corey has a much better forward core, but rask has a fantastic defense in front of him.

Both tenders played fantastic, and I think it would be splitting hairs to say one clearly out performed the other in the series.

Bergy is a lock, he was there 4 years ago and was half the player he is now. 4th Line C most likely, take all key faceoffs, Pen Killer and late shutdown player...

Thing people get lost in is that everyone wants the 17 "best" players, when that doesnt always work, all the best scorers will be great but you need role players and you need guys that can do the little things too or you will lose.... 4th line to me, shouldnt be about 40 goal scorers and 60 assist men

Looch and Marchy both likely wont make it, but its a good camp selection IMO, gonna push th guys in camp and give them another element to choose from rather then the "pure snipers" etc

I am not saying Marchy "should" make it, BUT, he would be great on the big ice and in a PK scenario
