Yeah...the same Leaf bias that saw Reimer not even invited to camp when his numbers were better than all but Crawford's. The fact that Mike Smith received an invite make me worry for Yzerman and his cronies.

Sorry I'm late but I don't that this is as big an issue for goalies as for other positions. What makes a goalie play better isn't necessarily trying harder. It's not like being ready to go into corners, take a hit to make a play etc. A young goalie like Reimer is as motivated as he is going to get. Does he have the tools to improve his game?

other problem there is, say Reimer stands on his head and retains the starters job. Will he even sign and extension with Bernier still here? And he certainly won't sign for anything short of $4M per if he does. And, if Reimer is extended, then good luck getting Bernier to sign beyond his current contract.

And good luck getting good return in a trade for Bernier if he doesn't steal the starters job.

I honestly think Reimer will be traded next summer. Would I prefer they had Reimer and Bernier for 2-3 yrs? sure, but don't see how that will happen given their current contracts.

Yep. Everything good that happens to the leafs is either fixed or leafs bias. If it's bad, then it's cause they deserve it and suck terribly.

Of the 12 or so Dmen invited to the CDN camp, Phaneuf is definitely in the top 12 canadian defenseman. For anyone to argue that is just pure stupidity.

Are there other CDN dmen that are better defensively that weren't invited...probably. Are there maybe other CDN dmen that are better offensively that weren't invited...there might be a few.

But are there any CDN dmen who are as well rounded as Phaneuf in every category that weren't invited...no, there's not.

Phaneuf is absolutely NOT excellent or great at anything....but he is good to very good at EVERYTHING. Not many CDN dmen in the league can say that.

Thus, he deserves to be invited to camp.

Gunner was sub par for this year yet you make it seem he was God at defending throughout the season and playoffs which he was not. I said hes decent to have and not the best compliment for phaneuf. Given that csrlyle is new coach he gave phaneuf a poop load of minutes.
