Yes he does play in all situations, I agree, but not great, he is no #2 Dman.

I would like to see him traded sooner than later if he is very tradable.

Gunner before the Hip problems was alright, he was awful afterward.

Gunnarson before the hip problem was the most reliable defender, Period. Not as able to shut down top players as well as Dion, but doesn't make many positional mistakes.

I'd actually like to see a 2nd pairing of Gunnar-Franson, though that means Gardiner is playing with Phaneuf...

can probably get him at a lower cap hit than his current deal on a 6-7 yr deal. Give him $7M the first 3 years, and $4M the last 2.

Sorry I'm late but I don't that this is as big an issue for goalies as for other positions. What makes a goalie play better isn't necessarily trying harder. It's not like being ready to go into corners, take a hit to make a play etc. A young goalie like Reimer is as motivated as he is going to get. Does he have the tools to improve his game?
