I'm not sure if you are trying to be a smartass but if you are, you are failing.
What I'm saying is that when Dion gets tired after playing 25 minutes, he is much more likely to make mistakes in the following minutes that he plays when he's tired than when he's not. - twiztedmike
Fine. But what I'm saying is that this narrative is a pile of crap. Dion makes more mistakes when he plays 20% more than other top pairing d-men. ALL DEFENSMEN DO. The more you're on the ice...especially against the top guys he always faces...the more mistakes that will be made.
If you bring Dion down to 22 minutes, that means someone else will have to play those 5 minutes. Their mistakes will now rise correspondingly.
I just don't agree with this MSM contention that Dion gets tired at the end of games and that's why he makes mistakes. He gets tired having to take 2 minute shifts since none of our forwards can clear a zone. He gets tired covering for the likes of Holzer and Kostka. |

Agree....Franson is much more important.
Fraser shows up to play every night.
Gunnerson is plain old average, not someone who should be on this D in 2014-15 with the kids coming up. - Byfuglien Ate Me
I'd disagree. He's the only guy who can play in all situations aside from Dion, and he's less than half the cap hit.
Gunnar-Blacker or Gunnar-Percy could be a very good pairing.
That said, Gunnar at $3.15M is very tradable, especially after 1-2 yrs.
Either way, Fraser is not a guy who will be around in 2 yrs. He'll look for more money if he continues his solid play, and just can't afford to pay bottom pairing guy more than $1M considering the presumed contracts of the top 4 in the net year or 2.

at first glance, doesn't appear to me that you guys are in disagreement.
And yes, Less minutes for Dion might be good for Dion, but not necessarily better for the team's performance.
managing his minutes in the first 2 periods in order to have him fresher for a heavier load in the 3rd might be the best strategy.

Gunnar's only capable of Playing top minutes because he's paired with Dion when he does.
Top pairing of Gunnarson-Franson wouldn't be very pretty, and I'm a big Gunnarson supporter. |

Ding ding!!! We really could use to move Liles...even if it's for a defensive d in a one for one swap. |

Yes he does play in all situations, I agree, but not great, he is no #2 Dman.
I would like to see him traded sooner than later if he is very tradable.
Gunner before the Hip problems was alright, he was awful afterward.
I guess it depends on which Gunnerson is coming back this season. |
