Moving forward Schneider was younger, cheaper and didn't have that contract. They are both great goalies and I'd rather have Schneider, but having Luongo as your goalie isn't a bad thing. Heck he's going to be the starter for team Canada

I have also heard rumblings about Schneider having anxiety issues, hence why he didn't play in the playoffs. These came out before he was traded, not after...

Actually i think it was Schenn, Gardiner, Kadri and a 1st. That was before Van fans were posting sarcastic trade proposals, in preparation for their "we were only kidding" excuse, once they finally accepted Lou's going nowhere.

Bottom line, is the Schneider trade happened 2-3 seasons too late. The team is aging now... Having Luongo in net, plus a stud defenseman that could have been acquired in a Schneider trade back in 2011 would have won the Canucks the Cup.

I am a Luongo fan, I've always been on his side, but in recent memory, Curtis Joseph and Eddie Belfour were on par with, if not better than Luongo. Not to mention Bauer, Sawchuck, etc.

In hindsight yes, I agree. But Schneiders value wasn't that high 3 years ago...then this year it was actually lowered because of the circumstances. Gillis (frank)ed up big time, hopefully Horvat makes us all forget this situation.

Joseph and Belfour were not better consistently over 10 years...maybe a season or two, but not the consistency. Sawchuk and Bower had WAY worse numbers than Luongo. And sawchuk only played 3 seasons with the leafs.
