it would be reimer and liles (and we'd probably have to throw in a pick or high end prospect). Liles isn't an anchor like komi, he'd still be useful, but we're basically paying a premium to move his contract. So that's over $5 mil wed clear out and could take back a D with a high contract.
Again i'd move kule for a pick or prospect and throw colborne on the 3rd line if needed, I think kule is good but our 3rd line can survive without him and he's certainly not making the top 2 lines. That opens up more cap space, but this is only a trade if needed where as the reimer / liles one should happen for sure. |

so you want us to go with a goalie whos never played more than 4 games in a row, no back up goalie and give up a high prospect? we already need colborne on the 3rd line regardless of if we move kulemin or not |

we'd be getting back a solid D. No we don't need colborne on the 3rd line. Mcclemant, bolland, kule (colborne).
Would I rather go into next year with bernier, a capable backup and an improved dcore or go in with reimer, 3 mil on the bench in bernier and the same D that got exposed in the playoffs? Yes.
Before this year no one thought reimer was a lock, and the argument was he needs experience (so it was right to play him and not grab kiprusoff). Bernier needs the shot now.

Yeah, I'd like to keep McClemment on the 4th line, and play 1st P.K. minutes. |

kule is very solid, but he'll be making north of 3 next year, to play 3rd line minutes. Very good 3rd line minutes, but he has some value on the open market to help other weaknesses. |

I think he would make a sick checking line with bolland. If one gets thrown out of the draw the other is there. Great shutdown line that has a bit of offense rather than limiting mcclemant on the 4th line. But that's just me and I see where your point lies. I just like the fact of the leafs having a legit shutdown line for the first time in a while. Imagine if we had bolland and mcclemant on krejci last year instead of grabo and komarov. Haven't had a nails shut down line since the zezel days |

exactly and he is too low down on the depth chart at that money when we can get something for him. He's not beating out Clarkson, jvr, lupul or kessel (including PP). Even on the PK he's replaceable now that we have bolland |

Gunnarsson is decent, it's really hard to gauge this one. He has to value to us but how much value to anyone else?
He's established himself as an NHL d-men. Pegged to be on the swedish olympic team. We've retained our asset on a reasonable contract anyway. He'll most likely get moved later on when our young guns develop a bit more. Remember, he was a 7th round pick, if he gets traded for anything in the future it's a win |

What if we trade kule for picks, those picks are busts, and Bolland leaves next year or gets hurt
You'll be saying why did we throw away the Kule-Aid Man, that's what |

even if bolland leaves, all 4 wingers (kessel will be signed) have long term deals so kule doesn't have a spot higher than the 3rd line for the next 5 years. |

heard that from bolland's grandma supposedly? We shall see. I'm sure being on a winning leafs team has appeal for anyone, let alone a guy from TO. He definitely makes us better. |
