Its a Lewieke trade no doubt. Nonis was looking for a vet backup. The goaltending was fine, and I am fine with Bernier on the outset, but with their cap issues now exposed, and the optics of how they are treating Reims makes it kinda dumb IMO. Bernier, has desired to get the opportunity Reims earned through proving it, and now is coming in to usurp the guy, not his fault, but management might have been wiser to avoid the circus and distraction that is surely to unfold.

as I've said I wouldn't have made the bernier deal, but im saying move reimer now because its the lesser of two evils. At the same time, im not going to write off bernier and say the move was awful as we don't know. But hanging on to reimer adds the media distraction and the potential for diminished returns. Its the best option going FORWARD.

So despite what you guys may be thinking as per Gunnarsson's new deal, when he's healthy, I think he's worth it. I have faith that whichever goaltender is playing will do a good enough job that the defence will have the simple task of clearing rebounds.

I figured we'd get Gunnarsson at around 2.5, but this is the reality of the market.

Also, the fact that they gave him 3 years is quite telling as they certainly didn't slouch on the annual average pay
